For some reason Hulu wants me to watch the first episode of Dopesick and nothing else. I never put it on my Watchlist, but if I let the end credits play on whatever I was watching it will automatically play the first episode of Dopesick.
It got so annoying that I almost swore never to watch that episode just based on principal despite being interested in the show. But I figured that was silly so I watched it figuring that would have the added bonus of finally not having that episode pop up anymore.
Wrong!
I watched the first episode. Then the second. After the second it wants me to watch the first again. Instead I watched the third. What would make sense to watch after the third episode? That’s right the first episode again!
Some robot or algorithm just really wants me to have Richard Sackler’s opening monologue ingrained in me.

Some Justin Wong videos. Now that’s more like it. JWong is cocky but he’s miles from toxic. When he loses he just says “GG’s” and moves on.
Clips from Great Mouse Detective. That movie is *adorable* and no one talks about it. It actually pulled Disney out of a tough financial spot. No issues there.
“Why Johnny Manziel Failed In The NFL”, “Marvel vs. Capcom 4 Build The Roster”, “The Great Philly Mob War.” Honesty, this is stuff that legit interests me. I’m fine with that.
“CEO 2022 Def Jam Fight For New York Top 8”. Fun game, no complaints.

YouTube keeps suggesting videos of lawyers analyzing courtroom scenes, doctors analyzing surgery scenes, and even blacksmiths analyzing blacksmithing scenes in popular movies, even though I've never watched or even searched for anything remotely like that.

I'm trying to keep this vague so as to avoid the "no politics" rule, but I am pretty firmly on one side of the political spectrum. I would occasionally get recommendations on my YouTube feed for videos in support of that side of the spectrum, although I will admit some were kinda dodgy. About a month ago I accidentally clicked on a video for the other side of that spectrum (it had a misleading title that was probably intending to be sarcastic). I literally watched thirty seconds of it before realizing my mistake, closing it and never looking back. Now my feed is being FLOODED by videos from really really fringy people from a side of the spectrum that I don't want to hear from at all. Does whatever algorithm that YouTube is running think I changed my mind so drastically from thirty seconds?

Maybe it’s because I don’t find politics as a whole to be much fun, but I’m not getting any sort of flood of annoying ranty people or these ideologue vloggers. I try to keep my social media feeds drama free.
Like, I don’t care about the makeup community either way. But there was this one time I liked a video of this James Charles dude’s subscriber count dropping, to the tune of Nicki Minaj’s Roman Holiday. I don’t remember what it was even about, there’s like a makeup scandal every three days, but I just thought it was funny. All of a sudden I’m getting videos about Jeffrey Star or Tati or who the heck ever. So I have to tell the algorithm specifically that I don’t give a flying f*** about who said what to who over beauty tips. But back then, it seemed to respond quicker to “don’t show videos from these channels again” commands.

I watched a bunch of butchering videos to learn how to process and clean some new types of fish that have moved into the area (Asian carp). Then I watched some videos about making fish sausages and fishballs, and how to smoke them.
Then I suddenly starting getting videos of people doing shit like shooting fireworks at cats and dogs, shooting pigs from helicopters and how to "quick salvage" a deer in under 90 seconds (aka, how to poach and cut the loins/quarters from a deer before a game warden sees ya)
I don't like the algorithm very much.
