I get it, we all had our favorite wrestlers/opinions on how wrestling should be back in the day. Not much has changed. Anyway, which of the moments of "IWC outrage" do you think don't hold up today?
"Chris Jericho having to work WWF Style totally neutered him!" Some people actually say his WWF/E stay was when he became a better all-around worker.
"IWC DARLING should be a main eventer!" Realistically, Dean Malenko was never going to be WCW world champion.
Any others?

Most recently in the 2-3 Raws before Wrestlemania this year every time Cody didn't show up there were so many people saying they're dragging the teases out too long and fans are losing interest.
Yes, there was actually more than a vocal minority who apparently thought it would be a good idea to have him debut on a March Raw instead of in front of 75,000 people at Wrestlemania. What we got was iconic and will be remembered for years to come. Him coming out on Raw to challenge Seth would have got a good pop but would have had nowhere near the impact. I wouldn't be shocked if some of the people complaining about him not appearing were playing both sides of the fence though and even if he did show up on Raw would then turn to saying how dumb it was not to just wait the extra week or two until the biggest show of the year.

HHH saying he could get a better match out of a broomstick than the Raw roster who were on strike didn’t exactly bury everyone to the point of no salvaging.
HHH’s handling of the Punk storyline nearly did, though.

Goldust putting the wig on Goldberg. It’s amazing how “The Death of WCW” managed to shape the Internet narrative of wrestling. It's interesting that I was several years removed from WCW's closure when that book came out, so having a cloudy memory on a lot of the stuff made the book seem far better than it actually was, at one point it was probably my favorite book. Then when I had a chance to rewatch some of the stuff referenced, I could tell the amount of half truths, false narratives, bias views and flat out lies that the book contained. It's still a fascinating read, but it paints WCW in the most incompetent view as possible, and while I don't doubt incompetency was there (and something I could probably find in almost any wrestling promotion that ever existed), the book goes out of its way to especially paint Hogan, Bischoff, Nash and Russo as these dastardly morons who if they had any success at all, they stumbled backwards into it. That isn't a defense of the things that they did fail on, and in many ways failed a lot...but I swear the book sounded like it was taken beat for beat from Meltzer reporting on it back in 1999. All in all, I think the book could have still remained entertaining and insightful had it been clear that the authors were looking at it as neutral observers, but what do you expect from Bryan Alvarez and RD Reynolds? Speaking of RD, it was funny to see him "debate" Bischoff on the failures of WCW several years ago. To say it was a bloodbath is putting it mildly. They had to use a sponge to sop up RD after Bischoff utterly pureed him on every single point. It was so bad that by the time the debate was over, RD was kissing up to Eric. I think Alvarez might have done a better job, but it's pretty clear that both he and RD just didn't understand all the problems that were happening due to the AOL Time Warner fiasco, something that wouldn't have changed WCW's course, even if they were pulling down 6.0 Nielsen's. |

An older one but HHH not winning at Summerslam 1999. They spent all summer building up him challenging for the title at Summerslam and as HHH was a) a heel and b) hadn't been champion yet he was the IWC choice to win that triple threat and they weren't happy at all when he didn't.
I'm going to go ahead and say HHH was just fine in the long run. And I doubt the initial outrage over Austin refusing to put him over was true. It may not have been clean but he did lose to him just 2 months later at No Mercy. I've always been more inclined to believe the story about Jesse Ventura being referee and him being a politician at the time he didn't want to raise a "bad guys" hand to end the show.

I feel like I might have imagined this, but I'm gonna post it just to make sure one way or another...
So we all know that Alberto Del Rio and Paige were a couple at some point, right? There was a brief point, believe it or not, that the relationship was seen as completely normal (probably because both Del Rio and Paige, mostly Del Rio, were seen as completely normal). The new brand split starts up, and they, of all the wrestling couples on the roster at the time, were the only one broken up along the brand lines, and I'm certain that people were mad about that for a brief second.
In hindsight, once people had cottoned on to how toxic that relationship actually was, it didn't seem like the wrong move WWE could make anymore, but the only one.

I still enjoy it, but I think it's funny they released a 10 year anniversary edition where they add additional context (ie. correct mistakes they made in the original book) and also probably because they didn't want to paint Benoit in a positive light after everything that happened. |

To this day I still can't believe that Goldberg survived losing 31 liters of blood when he cut his arm on the limo window. |

When Bryan got fired in 2010 Only with the benefit of hindsight that he got rehired as soon as Mattell or whoever forgot they were so outraged by it. In the moment it was completely justified, and WWE probably was as pissed about feeling they had to fire a guy they were pretty high on to placate a third party. |
