I'm looking for some new stuff to watch while working out and was wondering if anyone had any Lucha Libre match recommendations that are "must see" I haven't seen a lot of Lucha Libre stuff and was wanting to watch something different for a while.

You looking for more modern offerings or historical matches? Lucha covers a lot. You have your high flying fast paced matches and then you have the emotional brawls that usually occur in an aspuestas match.

Atlantis vs Villano III in 2000 won match of the year in the Observer. Chris Hero had called it one of his favorite matches ever.
One of my personal favorites ever is Perro Aguayo vs Konan mask vs hair.

Been way way too long since I watched the whole event. Perro is decent vs the right person and Konnan was over with the fans in AAA,even if I really never gave a crap about him. I need to find it but somewheres on a drive I have my top 10 lucha matches each year from 98 until 2006ish. Was getting right at 3 hours each weekend of CMLL and AAA on Galavision. Saturdays was footage from a few weeks before airing. IIRC AAA was the first 1 1/2 hours,then CMLL for the last 1 1/2 hours. Then Sundays was footage from about 6 months before airtime. Same 1 1/2 hour format with each fed. Found someone that had IWRG stuff and I think UWA and would trade him copies of my Mid South tapes for 8 hour tapes packed full of lucha. It's odd cause I just don't enjoy watching Puro if the commentary is in Japanese,a language I might know 3 words in. But watching lucha in Spanish has never bothered me,and I might know 30 words in Spanish tops. Might have to go dig out the DVD-rs I made off the various lucha I was recording. Been a long time since I watched it. And OP any tag match with Ultimo Guerrero/Rey Bucanero from 2002 through about 2004 is worth watching. |

Not a bad wrestler but if you see Ultimo/Ultimate Dragon and it is deep south indie odds are good you are getting the fake Ultimo. |

My favorite lucha match of all time is 2 out of 3 falls and 30 minutes, so it'd be perfect for workout viewing

Rey Mysterio Vs Pcicosis from the 1995 Super J Cup is a fun match, and the crowd are absolutely nuts for everything Rey does.

I feel like I’m one of the few people that doesn’t like the Gringo’s Locos vs. Hijo del Santo and Octagon match from When Worlds Collide. It’s a good match and I understand the history involved and how hot of an angle/stable the Gringos Locos were but that match just falls short for me. 🤷🏻♂️

I just watched Atlantis vs Villano - great match - had some high flying, some mat wrestling and a lot of submission moves. Crowd was electric.
