One thing that has been a big ask for AEW is crossover appeal. Swerve is bringing it in a way that most on the roster can't.
By having and highlighting Kevin Gates, places that don't normally talk about wrestling, nevermind AEW, are paying attention.
With acts like Swerve and Jade bringing rappers and other mainstream celebrities to the fold, it helps expand AEW in ways I bet they didn't expect. Kind of like how New Day, Street Profits, Bianca (and formerly Sasha and Naomi) do for WWE.
I honestly want to see more of that, from both AEW and ROH (if they are willing to bring back people like Trish Adora and Shane Taylor Productions).

After what was posted regarding this Kevin Gates guy in the live thread I am not sure that is the type of attention you want is it? I genuinely am asking as I do not follow the rap scene at all but the tweet was pretty dang outlandish

Being associated with "cool" brands is definitely going to help get more eyes on the product.

I actually agree that Kevin Gates is a not a great guy, which isn’t new territory on the “celebrities showing up on AEW” front.
I’m just saying acts like Swerve and Jade are bringing attention to AEW that AEW doesn’t normally get. In a positive way.

They did bring attention to AEW, whatever you think of Gates and obviously if it's true, yikes, that one tweet alone having over 70K likes on it says it all
This does bring attention to a demo I am going to take a guess and say AEW isn't very deep into, and Swerve and Jade's connections are definitely helping there.

TheShadeRoom posted the Gates punch on Instagram
It has millions of views
That account has 27 Million Followers
It's all gravy for AEW I'd say.

Literally the most I’ve heard about AEW outside of the usual wrestling spaces. Big ups for this.
Damn, it’s almost as if we weren’t just talking when we say diversity has all sorts of positives

Gates cold-cocking Nese was pretty funny. Honestly , real life aside from Gates, I liked the punch the way he did it.It was a good punch but yet it looked like a surprise punch that caught of guard. Also man, again I never watched Swerve in WWE because it was after I stopped watching But how the f*** you dont use that guy? he has everything you want.He is charsimatic and cool enough to be a great face and yet he looks self-centered enough to be a big heel, has main stream connections and his theme is fire.

I’m legit surprised to see that XXL is still around. Their yearly "Freshmen" list is a pretty big deal and probably the main reason they're still relevant

I’m surprised how much traction it got but these are absolutely the moves AEW needs to be doing.

I've always liked the guy, but I have been really impressed with him in AEW. He came in carrying himself like the biggest star they've got, and has had the audience eating out of his palm from his debut onward.

They (Vince) didn’t give him a chance. He was on the main roster for such a short time.
