Just as the title says, there's no hype video, last I checked it was Pac v Dogg at Summerslam 00, I skipped Unforgiven 00....and now we have a random cage match

X-Pac hit Jericho in the face with the dreaded nunchucks and they had a cage match. That's what I remember.
Backstage I believe it was the final test Jericho passed to be accepted by the bosses.

IIRC, this feud pretty much revolved around Jericho all but namedropping the term "X-Pac heat" on TV. Like, every week was a different promo about how X-Pac was stuck in a 1998 time warp. I think on the show itself, Jericho makes fun of X-Pac wearing his tired green singlet and Waltman finally comes out in a new non-DX singlet.

Not sure of the timeframe but Jericho definitely was in a position of “If you don’t have a good match with X-Pac, you’re fired”

The Ppv fued came later but during another period of Jericho seemingly being in the doghouse. Which happened a lot.

I know the match and have seen it a lot, but I’ve forgot exactly when it took place.

I thought it was the Raw match but cagematch tells me that was a three minute bag of nothing. Was the test match the unforgiven 1999 match perhaps? It's been years since I read Jericho's book.

Yeah me too. I don’t know where I have it either. I have the rest on my phone, but his second, he seemed so angry, I didn’t like it as much.

It seemed like they didn't really know what to do with Jericho after he lost the Triple H feud. There was a random 2 out of 3 falls match with no stakes with Benoit then that whole thing then the stupid Kane feud then they made him Doink.

It was more in 99 after he came in and wasn't so much of a case of him working in the ring with X-Pac but more X-Pac would watch all his matches and then Jericho would have to "report" to him afterwards to get feedback on how he did and what he could improve on. I remember Jericho saying he was really embarassed by it as he had been wrestling a decent bit and I'm sure took a lot of pride in his work and here he was having to go to this guy whom on top of it was also a few years younger then him and get critiqued. Honestly I think Jericho was fine and it was just a case of these veterans who had Vince's hear like Triple H being paranoid about the new guy with a lot of hype coming and doing all they could to knock him down a few pegs. I remember Jericho trying to downplay it in latter years like in his book and stuff and saying they were right but I think that was just him being a diplomat and knowing where his bread was buttered and not wanting to jeopardize that.

As I remember, there were some adjustment issues, and he busted people/gave concussions to a couple of people accidentally with stray kicks, RVD had similar problems a couple of years later. Chris might have gotten into his own head a bit, but as a viewer you couldn't tell anything.

Those guys were out to get Jericho when he first showed up. I mean, knowing what we know about Jericho he probably didn’t help himself with saying dumb stuff backstage but HHH and his crew and I think the Undertaker didn’t want him there it seems.
