I was watching a video on YouTube about the SmackDown Six, and reading through some of the comments, as well as thinking about the show's reputation overall...it seems that it's gained the distinction of being the fan favorite of all of WWE's tv series that have been produced over the years.
I always hear people say that SmackDown! has been their show of choice if not currently, certainly at some point in it's history.
It feels like this show has had more talked about and designated eras than Raw, the supposed "flagship" show of the promotion. From the aforementioned Smackdown Six all the way to the post-second brand split (better known here as LitDown Live), it has kept many fans sticking by it as *the* show to watch of any in wrestling, let alone just WWE.
Obviously, there have been periods where it is not at all talked about, such as those few years just before it switched to a live filming format, but when it *is* talked about...it's *really* talked about.
Why is that? Well, one common reasoning I see is that for those without cable, this was their only way to watch a wrestling show for a while. Certainly however, there is more to it than that.
What do you think... Why is the blue brand the brand of the people?
(Also, when the hell is SmackDown going to get it's "!" back??)

Really in general it's just a tendency over the years for a show to generally be better the less Vince gave a shit about it. SmackDown was the B show for years so it flourished, same for pre-TV NXT and the dying days of the ECW revival.
205 Live is this weird anomaly where it became a million times worse after Vince stopped writing it.

granted, it hasn't really felt like a "fan favorite" show in the past year or so, since Roman's dominant run and shows more often than not ending with him and the Usos standing tall over a face.

I remember feeling especially fond of SmackDown as a kid because it wasn't on a school night, as opposed to Raw
