From the documentaries I've watched a lot of people actually preferred the taste of New Coke. They underestimated the symbolism of Coke and what changing it represented, especially in the Southern states. Add in the Coke Classic revival and you'd argue Coke got away with it.

Nickelodeon passed on Adventure Time, Phineas and Ferb, and Ed Edd n Eddy, made that TERRIBLE Fred show, and made that AWFUL live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender movie.
Honestly, I can't believe Nickelodeon is still in business after these decisions.

They got away with it but they still lost millions. They could have created New Coke and kept Coke Classic and made everyone happy. But they didnt want to split their sales which would allow Pepsi to claim the #1 drink spot. Which still ended up happening after they brought back Classic as New was still around for years.

Honestly, I can't believe Nickelodeon is still in business after these decisions. As awful as The Last Airbender was, it's something of a commercial success. Not good enough to continue making the planned trilogy but they didn't lose money on it either.

How about CBS Radio jettisoning its popular, iconic WCBS-FM format in 2005 to become a Jack station?

Yeah but they intended from the beginning for it to be a series and the movie not doing great financially and being an utter critical failure put an end to that so I say it stands.

Badly managed Sears merging with badly managed K-Mart in a move destined to kill them both. Speaking as a person who worked for Sears, I say creating their Shop Your Way program as it is right now (or at least as it was when I worked there) ranks right up there. It’s the perfect example of how NOT to have a rewards program. How about UPN NOT allowing WWOR’s now defunct National feed to carry their network and as a result they gave their competitor, the WB an advantage because that network allowed WGN’s National feed (now Newsnation) to carry their network even in markets that already had an affiliate.

Decca Records turning down the Beatles after an audition, thinking they were no different from the other bubble gum rock bands that would come and go.
Ronald Reagan turning down the lead in Casablanca.

Sega releasing The Saturn before it or a majority of the games were even finished Hell, releasing it before even telling the retailers that it was being shipped right to them. Honestly, you could make an entire list of Sega's choices in the 90's that led to it pulling out of the console market.

NBC and the future Altice USA forming the Olympics Triplecast en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olympics_TriplecastHow about ABC passing on Cosby Show in the 1980s? One person said on sitcomsonline.com that when the now retired ABC network executives heard that the show got BIG ratings on NBC, they were probably banging their heads against the wall for passing on it.

Sega releasing The Saturn before it or a majority of the games were even finished Additionally, Sega CD, 32x, and Saturn being in such close proximity meant they were essentially competing with themselves, along with everything else. 32x in general was a strange stop-gap. At least Sega CD came across like a significant jump past the Genesis, while the 32x was kind of half-baked. Saturn was probably still going to get its shit rocked by Playstation and N64, but nixing the 32x would have probably helped, along with not rushing the Saturn out like they did.

With the American and Japan branches fighting and sabotaging the other, It's a wonder The Dreamcast got made in their last two years

Decca Records turning down the Beatles after an audition, thinking they were no different from the other bubble gum rock bands that would come and go. Ronald Reagan turning down the lead in Casablanca. If Decca had signed The Beatles, I don’t think they would have quite been the success story they were. After being turned down by Decca, they ended up at EMI and most importantly, with George Martin and I have always maintained that without George Martin, The Beatles would have been a great band, with George Martin, they were the greatest band. And besides, Decca decided to sign The Rolling Stones not long after, so they did all right out of it.
