Intellivision Amico. What happens when a d-list video game "celebrity" decided he wanted to cosplay as a CEO and pretend to be on the same level as Nintendo, Sony, or Microsoft? You get a disaster so bad that they cant even afford the refunds on a vaporware system anymore.

Hey, speaking of failed electronics companies! Osborne Computer Company released the Osborne 1 in 1981. In early 1982 they started showing off prototypes of their new products, the Osborne Executive and the Osborne Vixen. Problem was, those were just prototypes and weren't ready, and when computer dealers started getting wind that brand-new Osbornes were about to hit the market, they stopped buying Osborne 1s to sell, which wound up tapping the company's resources. The company would go bankrupt two years later. While not everyone agrees that this is the sole reason, the act of customers dropping off from ordering the current product to get the early-announced new product is called the Osborne Effect. There's bad decisions, and there's decisions so bad they name that decision after the company. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osborne_effect

I think KFC switching from the wedges to original recipe fries. The fries are crisp and tasty but just not the same as the wedges. Their biscuits are also much smaller than in the past. I prefer KFC still to Chik Fil A but CFA is definitely more customer service oriented.

90210 is still fairly popular in pop culture and 90's nostalgia is the rage right now.
"So, here's a reboot with the original cast (except Luke Perry, for obvious reasons)....except it isn't really a reboot. We're playing versions of ourselves! The fans will LOVE it!"

Yeah, but it's important to remember that at the time Pepsi was not really anything like a competitor to Coca-Cola. Pepsi didn't really become a competitor / threat to Coca-Cola until the mid/late 1960's at earliest.

Coca-Cola's attempt to introduce Dasani to the UK is the gold standard of how not to market a product. I think Dasani may be the only water whose taste actively disgusted me.

I'll echo Target Canada. There was huge buzz when they were coming. I had a friend who constantly talked about how much she loved Target and would shop there anytime she was south of the border. Then it showed up in Canada and between the stock issues and underwhelming prices it completely failed to measure up in any way to its competition. The speed with which it collapsed was actually astounding considering how many seemed to be clamouring for Target in Canada.

I think it's for the best that the Nintendo-Sony partnership fell through. Both companies are better off for it.
Even Philips won to a certain extent. Without those Mario and Zelda CD-I games, we might not have had YouTube Poop, and internet culture might be VERY different.

ITV Digital.
"Hmm, how do we compete with Sky and their Premier League rights in the pay-TV market? I know, buy an inferior product for a price that we can't afford and hope to have as many subscribers as Sky do!"
It went into liquidation less than a year after it was launched, leaving severe financial problems for the Football League teams who had budgeted for a fat TV contract that wasn't fulfilled.

A company part owned by Newscorp/Sky paid hackers to break the encryption system they used, flooding the black market with cards that left their pay tv ambitions dead in the water. www.digitalspy.com/tech/a373442/news-corps-nds-accused-of-itv-digital-hack/

Some on here have said that Nintendo's decision to end their partnership with Sony is the worst business decision ever.
I've heard a lot of people say that if the Nintendo-Sony partnership didn't end, we'd be playing games like God of War or Uncharted on a Nintendo console, or we'd be playing on a Nintendo PlayStation 5. However, given how console add-ons usually don't do well, I think the most likely scenario is that the SNES CD add-on flops, and the Nintendo-Sony partnership ends.

They still would’ve been wise to continue the partnership. CD’s were clearly the wave of the future, and Nintendo’s failure to realize that arguably cost them the console wars. A simple “we’re not doing this accessory but let’s talk about next steps” might’ve enabled them avoid creating one of their biggest competitors.

Krispy Kreme trying to expand into Massachusetts AKA Dunkin Donuts country.
My mom thinks it has lingering effects to this day as she’s convinced they’re the reason Dunkin Donuts jacked up their prices. In actuality Dunkin Donuts has been coasting off their name for well over 20 years. Even in the late 1990s (and probably earlier) they were cutting back on the quality of their donuts.
But back to Krispy Kreme, one of the stores was in my hometown Medford. They had super friendly customer service to try to draw people to their obviously failing business. As soon as you walked in there was a staff person who seemed to be there just to give you a free donut. Also, they had a coffee area where the staff seemed super laid back about people using things up. Like they had free milk for the coffee, but you could pretty much just drink your coffee then get an extra cup of free milk. As a teenager it was a popular spot for my friends and I for a very brief spell.
