It's mere existence is the biggest positive after years of having no competition for WWE. TNA from 2005-2010 was a decent alternative but they fell off hard and are barely relevant now.
Tony Khan and HHH/Stephanie are going to have to keep their wrestlers happy if they want to keep them which hopefully means better booking and bigger contracts for everyone.

It's the best wrestling show on tv, and that's with Omega, Punk, MJF and Cole injured.

The women's division's stacked with talent.
The tag division is outstanding.
Dynamite's starting to feel more unpredictable lately.
All of the belts are gorgeous and look like something a champion would be proud to have.
Wrestlers do their own thing away from their stables/tag partners and will even team up with other people.
Tony Khan still has his flaws as a booker, but he usually bounces back in a big way when a show or an ending to a show is negatively received.
Tony Schiavone rehabbing his legacy and reminding people why he's one of the greatest ever.
Jericho's the funniest commentator I've ever heard. For the wrong reasons, but still.
They're great at using the legends.
PPVs feel special because they don't do them every month.
They're proud to be a professional wrestling company.

- There's very little "knee-jerk" booking
- Talent are generally given the time they need to grow
- THE best tag division in wrestling. Nothing else comes close.

Damn, I haven't watched in a while. Are things really that bad? But Hook, Danhausen, Jamie and Ruby are my favs (and Punk before he got injured). Nah not bad. Only thing I think has been bad per say was the end to the Jericho and Kingston Barbed Wire match. Now it does seem like a lot fo plans have been changed due to all the injuries since Double or Nothing so at times the shows feel like they're treading water but nothing is that bad

Damn, I haven't watched in a while. Are things really that bad? No, they just need a goddamn booking team. But, even within their worst quality, we have an opportunity to glimpse something good. This could be WCW, aging stars playing endless politics, undercutting one another, propping themselves up. Instead we see vets working tirelessly to put others over and build up young wrestlers. It's genuinely heart-warming.

Even if it's just him having a weekly or monthly collab with Jake or Jericho or Arn or Regal or whoever saying "This is where I want to go, how do we get there?" The man's burning himself out booking.

Even if there's not always the most consistent place for them, AEW still kicks ass in presenting queer wrestlers with absolutely zero glimpse of negative stereotypes or stigma. No big stage on the North American scene is doing it better right now, and that's not about Sonny being booked more or anyone holding belts, it's just the feeling that they're there and there's nothing foreign or weird about it, or like that's only allowed to be brought up in June to try and play good PR. Having their second women's champ be a trans woman was a big move, and nobody has once made any kind of cheap pop dig at Nyla's gender. Bowens is a gay man who's intentionally crass, but he's never playing into gay panic stuff or like he's a sexual deviant; he and Max are treated like immature jagoffs to roll your eyes at instead. But it's still a gay man who makes sex jokes being treated no weirder or worse than the straight man he tags with.
Given how recently wrestling was still messing around with the ugly shit, it's been really nice to see a major promotion that gets that part right from just about day one. So recently that one of the most pushed acts on the AEW roster had homophobic back shaving jokes being made abotu them in WWE after AEW had already started.
