For a guy who monopolized the main belts of the federation for years, it's still incredible that he didn't have a single real match on Raw or SmackDown and that his only "match" was a 9 seconds squash to bury Kofi...

It's the kind of clause Hogan, Hall and Nash had.
I don't blame anybody for getting a large contact for fewer dates.
It's what I'd do, work smarter, not harder.

It’s not like he demanded the belts
If asked to wrestle here and there on RAW and SD when he showed up he def would have but he was supposed to be a special attraction. You have to pay to see him which in theory is not a bad idea.
Most likely Brock had it in his contract to wrestle only certain amount of times a year and it was up to WWE figure that out. More power to him for getting the bag without having to be on the grind 24/7

He likely signed a deal with limited dates so he didn’t have to. Giving him the belt when he had a contract like that is all Vince.
Vince could probably con a lot of talent to work more dates even in that scenario but Brock is too smart for that.

Lesnar’s contracts are written similar to a UFC contract, he wrestles X amount of matches per year at X amount of dollars per match and is supposed to show up to X amount of dates in the lead up to any match to do promotion. They felt it wasn’t worth it to have him wrestle on TV for how much they were paying him.
Even the handful of house shows he’s done since he returned had to be negotiated outside his standard contract.

But, if for example, Brock has a 10-matches/year, from WWE's point-of-view, they'd want to maximize any possible profit from that. IE, he only wrestles on PPV, not free TV. Brock likely doesn't care, because he gets paid the same regardless if it's on RAW or PPV, excuse me, Premium Live Event, but to WWE it would be a collossal waste. Maybe he does get a bonus doing a PLE match, who knows, but that's negotiated into the contract anyways, so WWE agreed to those terms in the first place. |

Those numbers aren't really worth comparing because inflation and how much the media landscape has changed. Also, because WCW was owned by the network they had a lot more incentive to have him more active on TV, while the WWE isn't nearly as much out of popping an occasional high rating compared to the increase in buys/subscriptions when Lesnar is wrestling |
