Agreed, if Punk was gonna just be gone for a month than yeah The Interim could've been justified but it sounds like until October or November when he'll be ready to return to the ring.

Honestly, shit’s so ridiculous that if Punk isn’t back by All Out, I hope Mox loses it to Jericho or whoever he faces at All Out. Let that person face Punk.
Then have Mox absolutely lose his shit and finally go berserker heel.

AEW really needs some new blood on top of the card.

I just don't have that much energy to care really. They already established the Interim aspect. I think it looks worse to suddenly decide to just make him the champ and undo your original decision. We all know this is just building to the Punk match. I don't think taking away the Interim aspect does anything other than making the company look incompetent.

The whole interim title thing feels like another case of TK spinning his wheels until his desired outcome of the thing becomes available again.

He's gonna declare himself the real world champ when Punk returns. Their back & forth is going to be pretty great

Mox and Regal have been quite vocal over the last couple of weeks (on the show) that he is THE champ and not the interim one, so I think Punk might be closer to being back than we're being led to believe.
Personally, I like the idea of interim champs and unifications though.

Punk wasn't in a boot at SDCC, I think he's closer to being ready than we think.
I think the interim TNT Title stuff did damage to the concept, but I think that if it's used sparingly, the whole "interim champ" laying claim to being the real champ is a fun story. Mox/Punk is a big time match for them.

The whole interim title thing feels like another case of TK spinning his wheels until his desired outcome of the thing becomes available again. Eh... it's an MMA strategy. The issue became UFC starting giving interim titles for every little thing. So that doesn't bug me

What is the issue with the interim status exactly? Basically just means he's world champ until Punk gets back and then they face each other for the title. Just with a status that is used through out MMA, boxing and even some wrestling companies. I really don't see the issue. Is it because he isn't technically recognized as a 2 time champ until he beats Punk? Not sure how that matter really, especially since he's defending it like a world title regardless. For all intents and purposes he is the world champ until Punk comes back (in which they'll face off to "unite" the title) or unless they believe he's hurt much more than originally believed. If that's the case, I'm sure they'll remove the interim status and officially recognize Mox. Let's not write off Punk returning until there is something definite I say. Dude has earned my respect to do so for now.

Yeah I also like the idea of an interim champ, and in both instances where they've done it (Sammy with the TNT belt and Mox with the World) the interim champ has been booked very strongly. Mox's current run has also been great; he looks like a world-beater right now, but with enough differences that it's not just a retread of his first "official" run.

If the plan really is to still to turn Punk as a "too good for the second rate promotion" heel, then this is perfect. He can claim that he's had a long run without actually doing anything

I like the idea of the interim champion in this situation, because it mirrors UFC in a sense.. but the problem is.. what kind of match is Punk going to have with whoever when he comes back? He's already hurt himself only having a handful (dozen?) matches here. I wish the best for him, TK and everyone at AEW but this is just hard to get behind. He needs to just take the Steve Austin route and go to mostly brawling in the ring and let his promos be the money, which in his case.. probably means turning heel sooner rather than later.
