Honestly, I think as far as how a legend should be used in a limited role, AEW has nailed with Sting over the past nearly two years.
With that said, I couldn’t help but notice tonight that Sting’s eye was starting to turn, and what the implications of that could mean.
When Pentagon Jr. was misted get reverted into the darkest version of himself, Penta El Zero while other than briefly feigning blind it didn’t seem to affect PAC and the jury is still out on which side of the equation Miro may fall on.
Which leads me to Sting, he’s never worked as a heel, WCW tried it for a few months in the Fall of nineteen ninety nine and TNA had him as the figurehead of the Main Event Mafia, but no one has ever bought the Stinger as a heel.
Could this potentially lead to a heel turn, if only briefly and him aligning with the House of Black? Or maybe Sting remains aligned with Darby Allin, but starts to show a darker side to his personality.
Regardless, I firmly believe that when the time comes for Sting and Darby Allin’s union to end that the latter should turn on the former, but I still want to see them have a Tag Team Championship reign before that happens, even if it’s a transitional, merely a few days one.

Just for historical context, Sting was a heel very early on in his career as one half of The Blade Runners with Helwig, then as part of a larger heel group, Hot Stuff International led by Eddie Gilbert, in Watts' UWF.
But you could tell then the guy had so much natural charisma and likeability (despite his inexperience) that he wouldn't be heel for long.

I don't think Sting should turn heel, like ever, and I will say that the booking of the man is one of Tony Khan's few positive consistencies since Sting signed with the promotion.
He's definitely showed Vince's WWE how it should have been done, I'll give him that.

My main takeaway was how stupid it was seeing him slooooowly crawl to his feet only to still effortlessly kick Buddy's ass afterward.

I wouldn’t mind being a tad “darker” or whatever. More ruthless, but heel? Nah.
It actually got me thinking if Darby could go heel, which, not sure bout that either.

Turning Sting heel would be the dumbest move imaginable. The fans are not going to boo him. At all.
Not to mention he's never been that great of a heel.

There were about 5-10 seconds where Buddy looked down and could have murdered a senior citizen. He probably should have acted surprised and fallen backward or something. I'm assuming it's building to Sting and Darby vs. HoB at All Out, but also see a world in which Malakai and Sting have a short singles match at Dynamite Grand Slam.

I don't think he's turning heel. Probably just selling the black mist.
Maybe it will be more deranged face Sting eventually (aka "Joker Sting" in TNA). That was one of the most fun characters Sting did. More importantly, it means a possible return of the Hostage Taking Bird!

I thought HTB had been repurposed to drop of TK’s *ahem* “deliveries* more discretely.
