I wish it was weird. Weird would be something of note This was one of the worst cards they’ve done in terms of interesting Rampage just feels harder and harder to justify watching even if it is only an hour I mean Trust Busters and Gunn Club in competitive matches that last longer than 5 mins? I don't think that's a bad thing. People shouldn't have to be squashed forever.

Just seems like a copy of the HFO/AHFO and probably will end up being as successful so I’d have been fine with a 2 min squash especially in their case I will say about Rampage though. I did enjoy the opening promo and it’s good for Sonny that they are doing something with her even if it’s likely not going to be great

Parker's match WAS a quick squash that lead to Sonny joining which I think is a big plus Their big time "bring it" match is gonna be vs Best Friends on Rampage. Which, I think has a really nice card this week. Big Trios match, Tag Title Match, FTW Title match, it's a more stacked card then there's been in a minute.

It's just a show. Nothing interesting ever seems to happen. The Sonny Kiss turn was ok but they really don't give a reason to tune in every week

What hurt the HFO/AFO is that they lost way too much to the point no one took them seriously anymore besides at least Ariya isnt washed up like Matt Hardy.

Yeah I will admit that the match was better than I thought it was going to be and started to cook towards the end I’m not already dead set against them, I’ve had guys and gals turn my opinion round (I remember thinking the acclaimed were lame when I first saw them for instance). Just as of right now (a) I get the feeling they are going to be set up as a factory type deal so why care and (b) Really feels like copy of AFHO which is still around but we’ll see

I still think it would be much better off it Rampage got repackaged into a show that gives the women more tv time and storylines. Especially since Dynamite seems dead set on the one slot per episode thing, with few exceptions.
It’s the most talked about problem with AEW, and it feels like very little is being done to resolve it.

I liked Rampage more when you had hot and fresh acts like Hook and Jade Cargill coming to the ring every week and making it 'their' show. Hook's initial popularity was grown more or less exclusively on Rampage. I'm not proposing a roster split, but having a few hot acts that people really wanted to see only really appearing on Rampage (coupled with a blockbuster match every week) was an interesting way to do it, I think.

I think they're experimenting more on Rampage because the ratings for it have free fallen from when Punk debuted on it

last Friday's "really weird" Rampage somehow getting the best ratings for the show since April is just tremendously funny.

Honestly I like the format of one marquee matchup plus folks theyre priming up for TV. At least I hope thats what they're going for.

I feel like when Rampage had "normal" Dynamite matches on it I read a lot of people saying "it's just a third hour of Dynamite".
When less typical stuff happens Rampage is "too different from Dynamite".
If something important happens there's some (though not an outcry or anything) saying "why do this on a 10pm show instead of the main show?"
Basically, it's a show that from day one was ticketed for a death time slot and I'm cool with them using it to try different stuff. Agreed that I like the idea of a marquee match but then using the rest to give some "less typical" wrestlers some time.

I love weird in my wrestling, and sometimes the more weird or gimmicky something can be can bring a breath of fresh air; it's one of the main reasons I love NXT 2.0 for what it is.
BUT, I don't feel it's a good idea to turn your only other televised show outside of your flagship in to something thrown together and unfocussed when you have so much that needs a bigger focus on.
If AEW wants some NXT 2.0 level goofy, there is a time and place, but not sure your third hour is it - same as I'd like be against NXT 2.0 if it was WWE's main third hour, instead of their random throwaway sixth.

Rampage seems be more suited to midcard antics for the most part with a bigger name for the main event or setting things up for dynamite. you don;t see a feud end on rampage hardly ever but instead it's more "person a from this faction and person b from this other faction have a fight to set up a tag/trios match the following dynamite" or "contender for faction leader's title face one of the champ's faction fodder people"
though for one hour i am sometimes surprised they can squeeze in 4 or 5 matches and still get some interview/backstage segments in as well while not felling like they're rushing anything outside of skipping 90% of the entrances.

Were there a lot of complaints about Rampage featuring bigger stars and matches early on? I don’t remember that being the view at the time.
