If Punk isn't still injured/recovering (and this is to cover up for that) then no matter what happens it will be f***ing stupid.
At this point if he's still healing up, just don't have him come back. Let Mox continue his interim title reign. Wait and build it up for Full Gear if you have to. Let them have a proper program on the mic, and it will still be one of the hottest angles/matches AEW would ever do.
But no, let's give it away on Dynamite.
Dusty finish, wasted potential. MJF comes back, so what? This was still a dream match for a lot of ppl, and absolutely All Out main event worthy. Punk is still injured, and needs more time, that's totally fine, but why do this in the first place? Wait it out and shoot your shot when you can and it will do gangbusters. But no, let's give it away on Dynamite.
On paper this feels late 90's WCW. On paper it feels lose/lose as far as stupid booking decisions go.
But as I've said I'm open to being proven wrong.

after last week i wouldn't be surprised if hangman and MJF both get involved with this to set up a 4 way at All Out.

My theory is MJF helps Mox win so
A. Punk isn’t Champ anymore B. Keeps the belt on ‘Dictator Jon’ as MJF called him back when they feuded. MJF wants to beat Mox for the title.
Only problem is MJF helping Mox could get Mox booed.

The more time I stew about it, more I think Punk’s dropping but yeah, something big’s gotta come out of it.

I think Punk drops the title or we get a dusty finish. My guess is either Punk is going to no show or he's not 100% and won't be in time for All Out, so they are going to try and have a match now and have a plan B for All Out.
Whatever that plan B is, I have no idea. Because the only heel I think could be in the title picture is maybe Jericho or MJF, but MJF is another case of its own. The fact is you don't advertise a title match for a PPV then go "nvm it will be on TV next week!" Something is up.

It sounds like the plan for All Out is still to do Punk vs Moxley so it seems like a no contest

They gave away Punk/MJF for free before doing a gimmick rematch at the PPV, so maybe that’s what they have in mind here, but still a very odd situation. If anyone outright wins tomorrow (no Dusty finish) then I’m going with Punk because he’s the guy with a fresh slate of guys to work with as champion. Only way he drops it is if he’s still injured but then why do a rematch if he’s still hurt?
I’m confused, but intrigued.

Starting to think Mox wins on Dynamite, and Punk plays into recent rumors and such by putting his career on the line in the rematch.

I definitely don't expect a clean finish. All Out's in two weeks and they basically haven't done anything to build an alternate title match for it. If,a big if, MJF returns tonight it basically sells itself in two weeks

I've had a strong gut feeling since the match was announced that MJF returns in it causing a no contest

Since AEW likes to burn thru months of storyline in one segment, Punk wins. MJF attacks post match for the interesting direction of Heel Punk Vs Face MJF at All Out.
Punk's turn started last week with his Hangman WORKED shoot...
