…you couldn’t do due to injury or surgery:
Ten years ago, I had PPH surgery (Procedure for a prolapsed hemorrhoid). When I returned to work at my then place of work, Sears, I gave one of the store managers that due to my surgery, that I temporarily couldn’t lift any objects over 10 pounds and likewise couldnt carry boxes of pillows up a ladder in the stockroom. The people at package pickup were glad to help out. However, the day when I came back after surgery, I was still in discomfort and tried to avoid lifting objects over 10 pounds as much as possible. One manager came by and not knowing about my surgery said she needed me to get a base and an auto pole. Both of which are over 10 pounds. I told her nicely that I would do it but I just had surgery and I got told I can’t lift anything over 10 pounds. She was nice about it and understood. She’s said that’s ok. She will get someone else.

Last year, had surgery where I needed emergency vacation, then a month without lifting more than 20 pounds. So, all I did was drive the forklift. Couldn't even change the plastic rolls, as it was just above the limit.
In a way, I felt like a real heel; I'm usually the guy that's helping out with others. But it's also a way to get the young guys familiar with a new position that they will most-likely have in a year or two, so it’s a preview of their future. I AM helping out by not being able to do things.

I work in a local government office with some elected officials. I was away for 3 months with major cancer related surgery. I was so f'ed up I wouldn't have been able to even read an email for the first two months if I wanted to.
When I returned to the office I found a chain of over 30 emails from an elected official (not part of my department) that wanted me to do something for them, then the next emails progressively got more aggressive. Then threats to my job and finally the "I'm going to the top and your ass is fired" email.
She avoided me for a solid 2 years after I returned to the office. I was told by the elected official in charge of me that her demands to fire me continued even after she was informed that I was on extended surgery leave AND our IT had informed him that my auto away-message emails were sitting unread in her email. She's since been voted out. I didn't vote for her.
I hope she stubs her toe tonight.

I sprained my ankle a few years ago. My former boss, who was also mentally harassing me, told me that I had to stand on it, for a 13 hour shift.
