Cut the promo of his life, but the poor guy had to do it right after Punk vs. Mox. We appreciated it, Ricky!

I thought the promo felt way too melodramatic if anything but that might've just been because the crowd reaction wasn't there for it. Might've landed better if the crowd weren't so out of it.

This is the second time in as many weeks that the crowd kind of isn’t having it with a babyface promo after Jungle Boy got the ‘what?’ chants last week, though the segment mostly recovered nicely by the end.
I think there’s something to the fact that fans aren’t used to hearing from these guys, because mic time has really been limited mostly to main-eventers, but AEW should keep doing it even if there are growing pains. Felt bad for Ricky, though.

Ricky's one of the best that they've got, seriously. I honestly feel like he could be that babyface that they wanted Sammy to be at one point, or are trying to make Jungle Boy now. Like JB has potential, he's not quite there yet as a complete package for a singles run imo, but Ricky is f***ing gift-wrapped ready. Loved the promo, one of the highlights of a weird Dynamite.

I thought this and the Jungle Boy promo were a bit too much *pure babyface fire*
Those sort of promos only really work if you have a big deep connection with the fans or you've got a lot of babyface momentum
They don't really work for midcard guys. That's when attacks, quick and to the point stuff is best. Quick action where the angle itself is what is entertaining the fans, rather than expecting them to stop and listen to you and care
If that makes sense? I know it's not worded perfectly, but in-ring promos are a very deep personal connection between performer and crowd, if you don't have that then it's a very hard thing for a babyface to pull off. Cheap heat yes, but to say a line as a babyface to get a pop it really needs to land. You could say the exact same line in the exact same way twice, if the crowd pops it's cool, if the crowd doesn't it's pure cheese. It's always a risk as nothing makes a babyface look lamer than pouring his heart and emotions out as thousands of people let him know they don't care lol
Both would have been better as shorter backstage interviews imo

Mox vs Punk honestly should have been at the end of the show. Then maybe put this segment after the Aussie match, because this was a hell of a promo and it needed a better spot for an audience to digest.

The New Jack City references are my favorite part of this feud Someone needs to start chucking in some King Of New York references. Have one of the Trustbusters talk up Punk and Hangman just buckshots them and says “you’re all welcome.”

Countless people have had to go on after huge shock moments and absolutely died a death because of it. It sucks but that's what it is when you have a show to put together and the pieces fit a certain way. Moxley's post-match went on forever and we were hearing bits of the song we never hear on TV just so they could try and draw out the reaction time and let people settle, and it still wasn't long enough. But by the end of that promo, Ricky had them responding. He had them committed. The hugest, wildest shit had just gone down and they were still pulled right back into caring about what Ricky had to say. That's talent. That's star power. Ricky is so obviously a star and this had beter be his run up the card, it's his time.

My only complaint was he was coming out pissed and full of fire but still hit his entrance poses to his music at the spots. Promo itself was nice enough

Ricky annihilating MJF on the mic tonight in a late contender for promo of the year
(and got kicked in the balls for his efforts but still he raised his stock significantly tonight)
