This seems to be a cornerstone of the entertainment industry. So what are some of your favorites/least favorites?
I just rewatched This is 40 on Netflix. We’ve talked about it before on here, but Judd Apatow is REALLY out of touch with the common man. I imagine some cultures would view it as a horror movie.
“How can these two people live in a castle and still be this miserable?”

Wolf of Wall Street and Marie Antoinette, if those count.
Actually Leo is real good at the messed up social climber story, throwing out Gatsby and Aviator.

In "Death Laid An Egg", the main character is a manager of a chicken farm and science lab who is trying to keep his rich wife and his mistress from finding out he's strangling hookers on the side... does that count? {Spoiler}... and it turns out he really isn't killing hookers, he's just acting out the fantasy and the girls are playing dead because the money is good.

The last Woody Allen film I will ever watch because f*** him..
Midnight In Paris - there is a scene where the Rachel McAdams character and her mother are in a antique furniture store and the mother sees a dining chair that costs $7000 and they get into argument about the mother buying it as a wedding present for her..
It’s a f***ing chair.. I don’t care how old it is, who made it, whose famous ass did fromage farts into it.. it’s can’t get behind any character discussing buying a $7000 chair.
Edit: sorry it’s been a while since I have seen the film, and I really don’t want to watch any of that c***’s films ever again … so I looked it up and I was wrong… it was deck chair, and it costed $20,000!

Fight Club, and American Beauty.
In the late 90s having a well-paying job, a nice place to live, and plenty of leisure time meant something was horribly wrong with your life.

High Society. Great songs, but why should I care about these people exactly?

I know it was a cultural institution in the 80s but seeing a rich doctor and his rich lawyer wife having first world problems on the Cosby Show had to sting for a lot of Americans in general, but for black Americans in particular.

The sitcom Mom is an example if you follow storylines involving the Jill character, played by Jaime Pressly. She is a rich woman, but is unhappy and has a history with alcoholism and substance abuse.

Mad Men is, though it is a very well executed one with very nuanced characers.
