AEW owes a lot to Chikara. Remember the parting visage of the original shutdown. A disheveled Wink Vavasseur sat down and ate an apple as the Arena around him was torn apart.
...a bloody CM Punk eats a muffin...

In my battle with insomnia, I forgot to post my favorite /woo/ copypasta I saw CM Punk at a grocery store in Chicago yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn't want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly. Here's a story where he's being a nice guy. I met CM Punk at a restaurant once - we’d accidentally been given his table. Apparently he was fond of the restaurant and had a specific table he liked, and the management had messed up and gotten their days wrong, (it was Tuesday and they thought he was coming on Thursday or something like that). Anyway, the manager, completely embarrassed (this is a pretty nice restaurant) comes by and says “I’m so sorry, but we’d like to move you to another table if you could be troubled, and we’ll gladly compensate you for the cost of the meal and any other meal you’d like while you’re in town.” My sister and cousin were both like “Yeah that’s cool.” and I kind of played the jerk a bit. “I’m sorry, I just don’t understand. We’ve been here for 15 minutes - we’ve just ordered. Can’t we finish our meal here?” Then out of nowhere CM Punk shows up next to the manager and says “Paul, these guys can finish. We’ll be in lobby. I got some time.” And I (being a big Punk fan) said “Oh wow, uh… I had no idea. Please feel free to give them the table.” Punk was grateful, shook my hand and said thanks, then gave me a card with his number on it and told me to give him a call later. After working up the nerve, I gave him a call that night, and to make a long story short, we had a glorious 11 month love affair, man on man, that I shall never forget. Our bodies intertwined as one, and from the beauty of Morocco, to the French Riviera, to the snorkeling in the Galopagos, CM Punk and I made glorious hot love to each other on six of the seven continents.

Punk had enough of people accusing him of getting Colt demoted, went scorched earth on Colt, Bucks, and Hangman. All while covered in blood and eating desserts Except that isn't even what happened sorta this time. Yes he torched Colt and stuff. But he (Punk) 100% instigated it this time. Denise posted the full rant on her YouTube page, and Punk picked a reporter, asked if he did standup, asked who he did it with, reporter said "I did it with Colt Cabana" and then just completely shit all over Colt unprovoked, and ranted for a good 20+ minutes for the most part, while Tony just nodded his head with a look of absolute horror on his face. The reporter never actually brought up Colt before that point. Holy shit. I just woke and I'm catching up to this, that's absolutely deranged. I dunno what this is but none of it's good and it makes AEW look like poorly run trash.

Anybody saying fire Punk is nuts, I’m sorry. Fine, suspend, whatever. You don’t fire that guy.
Also, maybe you have to fine or suspend the Bucks, too? Punk is getting all of the blame here even though it’s clear some people are playing games.
He shouldn’t have gone off like that. But I really feel like we’re missing a piece of the story.

Punk is a hypocrite.
Talked shit on bullying in WWE - proceeds to bully talent in AEW using his position & his drawing power (as his boss sits idly by, letting him interrupt him several times over)
Mentions that "the grass isn't greener on the other side unless you water it" in regards to MJF being openly bothered by the company's direction... literally as one of the biggest and most vocal grumps of all time.
Says over and over again that he doesn't want to talk about Colt Cabana, but keeps bringing him up in questions that have nothing to do with him.
The dude constantly buries Hangman (and I hope to God that Page just punches him in the mouth sooner rather than later) after Hangman 'went into business for himself' with the most innocuous comment about needing to protect AEW from him.
I said it a few weeks ago, and I was dunked on, but I am vindicated.
Punk is not as much of a genius storyteller than he is advertised out to be. He's a vindictive prick. f*** him.

Not everyone is spelling the end for the company... But that doesn't mean that we can't criticize Tony and Punk for what happened tonight. And what's so "obvious" about it? I mean how could it not be? he's standing right next to the owner of the company talking shit about literally everyone in a way that's clearly meant to piss off fans. I think people just hate Punk so much they insist on being "right" about the guy even when it's obvious he's taking the piss. Nah. Smugly smirking about "Subpoenaing ol' Marsha" What match are we building up to here with Marsha Colton? When is she making an appearance on Dynamite?

CM Punk only “speaks out” when he isn’t getting his way. He’s become the kind of guy that he despises. The guy that’s past his prime that gets all the opportunities and takes away from deserving talent that works their ass off.

Punk was obviously fishing for a Yes but the reporter said no and that he didn't see eye to eye with Colt. And then Punk just went off

Anybody saying fire Punk is nuts, I’m sorry. Fine, suspend, whatever. You don’t fire that guy. Let's just assume for right now that it is *just* Punk who did something wrong. Firing him isn't unnecessary. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, if someone is being toxic to the work environment, no matter what their position is, they should not be in that position. Punk is AEW's biggest star, no doubt about it. But there are many stars who have a value that TK shouldn't jeopardize by choosing Punk over them. Punk has proven he is volatile when he feels slighted, so again choosing him over everyone else seems like a big mistake. It truly does feel like once Tony puts his foot down, Punk is going to walk. You cannot put your entire stock in that 1%, because if that 1% fails...then you are in trouble.

Tony Khan sending Colt Cabana off to ROH is not the kind of thing you would expect to have a chain reaction that tears the whole company apart.

They're ungrateful children. Right, Mr. Atlas?

Whether they went to Punk first isn’t clear yet, but this isn’t just on Punk. I feel like everybody here is coming to conclusions, f***, even one guy speculating Punk has CTE, without knowing what the f*** is actually going on. Either way. If it does turn out he was in the wrong full stop and the locker room will be sunshine after, yeah, you let him walk. I doubt that’s the case, though.
