Tony Khan says he didn't cut Punk off because he didn't know what he was going to say next, but no matter how he puts it, there's no excuse for silently sitting there while Punk goes off. There's also no excuse for letting Punk cut him off without repercussion. It makes Tony look weak, and it's a bad look for AEW because it leaves the impression that the inmates are running the asylum.
I get that Punk's a huge name, but he's not above the business. As his boss, it was Tony's responsibility to stand his ground and put Punk in his place. He didn't, and that's on him.

Completely Agree. My biggest issue with that tweet is that while I don't think its Tony's fault at all that Punk went as extreme as he did, it is the fact Tony didn't own up to his mistake that he lost control and just gave a excuse. I think most people sympathize with Tony for how bad he looked in the whole mess but it just rubs me the wrong way Tony just simply couldn't acknowledge that he lost complete control and instead tried to give some sort of BS excuse for why he at best just timidly tried to stop Punk makes me roll my eyes. That and if Tony knew Punk was going to give a pipebomb rant and basically gave him the oaky even if he did not know exactly how bad it was going to get, it still was not a good idea on his end when Punk already took a off script jab at Page. "For me, I've learned a lot, but the most important thing is, whatever position you're in, if your back is against the wall, just remember that there are people there that you can turn to."
In a way he admits its his fault for putting too much of his trust on Punk tbh
I guess he kind of does. Still Tony messed up big time. I truly do hope regardless of what, he uses it as a learning experience.

To an extent, I can believe that Tony Khan lost control and fumbled and shut down during the tirade. Same time he messed up big time which led to this "fun" mess.
Important thing at this point is how he handles thing moving forward, I think.

P.S. 675 pages and I still haven't had a muffin. Maybe near Christmas I'd order at Kenny Rogers here and get corn muffins and soak it in gravy.
Frankly, I just don't like sweet stuff.

It's worth keeping in mind that some people just do not have the force of personality to keep trying to wrest control of a situation from someone who has cut them off repeatedly. He tried to stop it, he got shut down by a much stronger personality. Even divorcing the issues of trust or their personal and business relationships, that can be tough. Hopefully he learns and hopefully he can put his foot down next time, that's something you can absolutely learn how to do and be better about. But being a deer in the headlights isn't exactly uncommon in a situation like this.

Have been in the middle of arguments acting as an impromptu mediator, or had to talk to someone in a bad situation. That stuff is hard. Now, as the head of a big company, you'd want to expect Khan to hash it out quick, but alas it didn't. All one can hope for it that he'd do better next time when such a thing happens one way or another. That's his, as the hip kids say, is his L in that moment.

He definitely let Punk get out of control and should have intervened at the scrum, but the way he's dealt with it since has been great. I just hope there aren't any digs at it by the Elite. There's no need. It's been dealt with, they're coming back and hopefully Tony has learned something.

Hopefully there isn't a next time. But if there is, either Tony can lay down the law sooner or he has someone nearby who is.
Really just have Arn Anderson mean mugging people off camera to the sides.

It's a situation, definitely. So far, Punk is still in the company. Apparently not happy with Colt being back from what I've read here. The Elite trying to rub salt in the wound won't really be helpful if AEW's aim is to get rid of him.
...I would chuckle slightly, but at the same time it's not helpful. Elite's gptta be EVP's about it, more than ever.

The media scrums do have a bit of an informal vibe. It might be worth getting someone to act as an MC and host, regardless of the chances of this happening again.

He will ban muffins from being served in AEW Media scrums?

If they do it it will be on BTE once it returns next week(or the week after)
