Thousands of fans chanting “f*** CM Punk” is a fitting end to this saga. lol After so many years of crowds chanting for him to come back whenever a match was boring, he decides to make them and the rest of us regret that by being obsessed with Colt Cabana hatred and a Hangman promo.

I wonder what would happen if cult of personality hit and he were to actually walk out. Would he still get booed to oblivion?

Question to FAN: How much did your opinion change about Punk recently as opposed to say 8 months ago? How would you debate your old self if your opinions have changed. I always knew he was an asshole and suspected WWE had their reasons for never getting totally behind him. It hasn't changed my opinion at all. He's still a great pro wrestler and if he can sort himself out and make amends (he won't) I'd be happy to see him back. Equally I don't care if I never see him in wrestling again.

I used to believe he was just an asshole that stood to his beliefs no matter what, a sense of justice. Now? He is just a whiny bitch that throws tantrum when someone slightly does something he doesnt like that demands to be loved and respected

Before the scrum he came off somewhat prickly to me but not necessarily self-centered, when he talked about how much he hated Hogan, I could kinda understand where he was coming from. Granted, Punk far as I know isn’t a flat out bigot, but in the realm of being a shithead backstage politician, that press conference was one of the all-timers. Now he just seems way more hypocritical IMO.

I rewatched the Scrum Hear Around The World recently, and all I could think about was how tasty looking those sparkling waters Punk was drinking were.

In hindsight, HHH was the babyface all along in his feud with Punk. Especially with the promo he cut at the Night of Champions contract signing.

I always knew CM Punk was an asshole, but as long as he was just wrecking his own opportunities and friendships who cares? The scrum and what happened afterwards were different because his actions screwed up a company and the fans. Two titles were stripped, plans had to be changed, Mox lost his holiday, MJF's return was overshadowed etc. It wasn't just the actions of an asshole, but of someone arrogant and selfish. Sort that shit out like an adult and not in a media scrum where you have the floor and nobody can respond.
All that said though, I'd still welcome him back if AEW and Punk can sort it out. That's a big if that I can't see happening though.

TBF even without the scrum nonsense the injury would have likely lead to Tony asking Moxley to delay his vacation. Maybe we get the same booking but with Punk returning to challenge MJF. But yeah, he likely caused the trios title switch with his actions.

If the scrum and fight never happened and it was just a straight injury, I doubt Mox would have got it because Khan wouldn't have needed the safe option. That's how I see it, anyway.

Punk lost me for good when he went back on his promise to cover Colt Cabana's legal fees. For me, his return has been a Tesla in slow motion waiting for that moment of implosion and I'm just glad he didn't exit in a way that damaged the company further.

Me to 8 month ago me: "He achieves more than we thought he would, but ends it exactly the way we knew he would. Just, uhh... on a much grander scale. Vince McMahon is forced into retirement, and THIS is the bigger story."

I don't think he'd have a 100 percent negative reaction, but a lot of people would boo him and be pissed still. A lot would also either assume "they must have hashed it out" and given him a chance, or be too wowed by his being there to be mad. Guessing it'd be a roughly 50-50 reaction across the crowd.

I could see Hangman getting that transitional run. I could also see TK not wanting to burn a transitional run on a young guy. So then you got Danielson, who had recently put over Mox, Jericho who's still in the middle of the ROH stuff and then maybe Claudio? I think scrum or not if Tony didn't want to use one of the younger talents or blow a first time reign to have someone put over MJF Mox was really the only guy.

If the scrum never happens, the company never gets a black eye, doesn't lose The Elite for a few months, and there doesn't become any need to put on a strong face of stability. Becomes way easier to afford putting the belt onto Danielson or Jericho or whoever; they don't have need for a tip top draw to carry the flag. Moxley has way more leverage to say "nope, I'm on vacation" because there's no crisis to pull the company out of and 'be a leader' over because he had just done this already months earlier for the same guy but now with way lower stakes for protecting a show than Forbidden Door had.

Question to FAN: How much did your opinion change about Punk recently as opposed to say 8 months ago? How would you debate your old self if your opinions have changed. Eh I started to realise he was a b**** when I watched his WWE documentary and he b*****d about Miz maineventing a Wrestlemania and buried him. Say what you will about The Miz but at that time it made complete sense considering how over as a heel he was. Just came across as sour grapes The whole screwing over Cabana situation just confirmed it The crowd chanting what they did was hilarious and I hope he finds out about it

Question to FAN: How much did your opinion change about Punk recently as opposed to say 8 months ago? How would you debate your old self if your opinions have changed. My first red flag came up after his UFC fights and during his hiatus. I was an insane Punk fanboy in my youth. Didn’t think he was perfect. His WWE main event run showed that, but he was still my guy. It was during the hiatus when he started lashing out at fans at large that I thought “that’s not cool”. I get there’s an abundance of toxic fans but why lash out in general when his fan support is what got him to the dance despite a LOT of hurdles. By the time of Backstage, his AEW debut, I figured “he’s still an asshole but seems more well adjusted and happy” and welp. So it’s not the biggest far cry from my opinion 8 months ago. Thought the dudes run was highs and lows. As usual with Phil, tbh. I also got the feeling he was influencing how AEW was changing after Cody left and that kind of annoyed me.

Thought the dudes run was highs and lows. As usual with Phil, tbh. I also got the feeling he was influencing how AEW was changing after Cody left and that kind of annoyed me. Same here. The first red flag that came to my attention was when the falling out between him & Colt Cabana happened. Despite him being an abrasive person and him having his faults, I was still a huge fan of the guy and then there were those fond memories of his work in WWE. Seeing him return after a long absence brought joy to my heart. At the time, it was one of the best things to happen in wrestling. I was very excited with what he could bring to the table for AEW as well as the stories he'd be involved in because you just knew they were going to be high in quality.
And they did not disappoint. Each & every one of those feuds were memorable. For the most part, it was a successful comeback.
....that was until everything fell off a cliff thanks to Punk letting his own ego get in the way of things. My opinion of him really started to sour when he went off script, but when he went off in that scrum, I lost all the remaining respect I had for the guy.
