In Maffew's chat the other day, I saw someone say that the CM in CM Punk can now stand for Constant Martyr. And on top of that, apparently there's a shirt:

This deserves its own thread because what the f*** I feel like I was personally attacked by that mess. I truly love that the first sentence of the thread implies that it's not going to be of much interest to anyone else.

When it was happening there was like three of us on the board watching live so I was just sitting there fairly drunk just feeling like Punk DM'd me some very rude things which of course led to the "IS ANYONE ELSE SEEING THIS HE JUST SHIT ON HANGMAN FOR LIKE 20 STRAIGHT MINUTES F*** THIS GUY" tone hahah

After all this, is Hangman about to leave the territory?

I may be overly optimistic by instinct, but I didn't get the Adam leaving vibe from that post at all. Rather, I think it's signifying or foreshadowing the formal dissolving of Dark Order as a unit on television.

If I had to guess, in addition to just being a genuine thanks to his Dark Order buddies, that may have been stuff that he would have talked about in BTE but with the hiatus and all maybe better to just get it out there now.

Reposting this from 20 pages ago because some of us may have missed it over the weekend. Here's someone who actually knew Punk for a few recent years who has been 100% quiet since the whole Punk-Colt stuff went down finally weighing in on the scrum - This week's episode of the podcast Marty and Sarah Love Wrestling went live yesterday. Marty is in the unique position as he'd known Punk for a few relatively recent years when Punk kept a small circle but never once talked about the off-screen Punk following the Colt fallout. Acknowledging Punk and the scrum being out in the open, this episode talks - not in a gossipy way or clickbait-y but an actually insightful way about it. He comes back to it a few times throughout the whole episode, and it really puts a lot in perspective. Marty and Sarah Love Wrestling is my favorite current weekly wrestling podcast so I'd recommend a subscription. Their take and approach to the medium is refreshing and unique. Anyway, here's the episode, it's also on all podcast platforms - mnslovewrestling.libsyn.com/324-lets-get-into-itThere's so much I found interesting from their perspective on Punk but what jumps to mind first was how they absolutely didn't buy Nice Punk from right when he came back. Yeah, and I don't know why it stuck out but Punk saying he "never watched any wrestling" and Marty pointing out that they watched it at each others' houses. Something so simple that Punk did not by any stretch need to needlessly lie about, but he did anyway.

Yeah, that's my guess, that Hangman probably wanted to talk them up, especially with Alex hurt and Hangman having lost them the 6-Man title match. He may just be reflecting on things in sorta-kayfabe.

I've said for years that Punk (much like Vince) has this unfortunate ability to take reality, turn it into fiction, and then believe that fiction is reality. I've doubted every single story he's ever told to be honest. The final straw for me was his "look how badass I was in the face of a police officer" story. Anyone else would have had their ass arrested for how they talked, and were threatening towards a cop, but not god king of badassness Phil Brooks. I could go on, but I'll just say that the Hangman IG post just speaks volumes not only to how good of a human being Hangman is, but really shines a light on why Punk hates Page so much. Like Adam Page is genuine. Something CM Punk will never be no matter how hard he tries. And that's gotta piss him off. There's that phrase "real recognizes real" but it looks like when fake recognizes real it gets angry and jealous. Literally no one else dislikes Hangman, and that's telling.

I obviously don't know any of these people on a personal level, but I do think it says something when, for all of their own philosophies about wrestling and booking, for any differences of opinion, Cody, Kenny, and the Bucks all four put over (paraphrasing) that if AEW could accomplish one thing, it should be putting a spotlight on Hangman, that Adam Page was the best kept secret in wrestling and that he had more potential than any of them. Like, it was one of the Q&As, maybe, but I just remember one of them saying it and the others nodding, I don't recall if Hangman himself was present for it. All four of them think the world of the guy, and hell, it's showed. It does make me regret a bit that Cody vs Hangman never happened in AEW, though I guess there just never was the right time.

Agreed. I think had Cody explored the "delusional babyface" character (ala Homelander) that I fantasy booked in my head, and have mentioned a few times, then a feud between him and Hangman over the "heart and soul of AEW" would have been amazing. Another fake vs. real type situation, but this time self-aware, and in the context of two friends working together.

For me, rather than that approach, I'd have had Hangman get it into his head that he wanted to defend the title against Cody to right a wrong, and kind of badger him until he agreed. Cody's heel turn would then be, if he beat Hangman for the title, saying that it came at the expense of breaking his word, and that Hangman had debased him whether he intended to or not, which Page just genuinely having felt Cody had been cheated and not having done any of this to embarrass Cody.

I'm going to start using Punk's "I'm hurt and old and work with children" line more in everyday life.
