I hate to give the absurd Kyrie Irving comparison anything resembling legitimacy, but he didn't face any legal consequences either. He was a moron, but not a legally liable one.

Im also gonna assume if they brought Megha to Punk's room for the discussion they wanted to have, they absolutely screened BTE with HR to make sure that everything they posted was fine and would be ok to upload to the internet for every eyeball to see.

I just wanna say I wasn't trying to cause an issue with anyone or derail a fun thread. I've not followed the story past the initial weekend that closely and just had my thoughts on the BTE footage. I watch less wrestling than I ever have these days and tbh it does feel like if I comment something negative about AEW I get a bunch of people telling me my opinion is wrong. I do have plenty of negative opinions about WWE for the record haha.

But yeah, sorry if I derailed the fun thread, that wasn't my intention.

I never said what he did was anything revolving around legality...I said it was visualized as promoting it. It was wasn't it? Same thing the Bucks did with the chant. I will leave that here though as there is no reason to defend anything that involves Kyrie ever.

Gang, it's the live entertainment business. If the crowd is chanting "f*** CM Punk" that loudly, even if you didn't start it, there's no harm in acknowledging it - and in terms of entertaining the crowd it's the right thing to do. They handled it perfectly as it happened. Yes, they've EVPs, but EVPs in any company who are in a live situation where a happy crowd is doing something, all things considered, harmless - you roll with it. That's them doing their job.

I haven't watched BTE yet so I'm withholding commenting my thoughts on the chant's inclusion in the clip until I see it.

I do get what some folks are saying. It is a bad look for EVPs who just returned from suspension and then out of all of the clips in their awesome return match they also decided to put in the chants of someone theyre beefing with. Can you sue them? Nope

Is it on the level some are trying to compare it to? Very debatable

Can you actually take any actual legal action against them for including that chant in a video? No.

If I was them I would have taken the audio of that chant and set it to music. I would have done like five remixes throughout the episode. I would've set the chant to the whole of Wire's seminal 1977 post-punk groundwork Pink Flag and released the 'new' album on every music platform. That's 21 tracks of "f*** CM Punk" remixes. I'd advertise the album on Dynamite every week.
