I just went back and watched the DVR recording I have to see whether or not they did, and they definitely encouraged it/reacted to it while they were on the apron. The crowd is chanting "f*** CM Punk!" while Omega and Pac are in the ring. Nick and Matt turn around, obviously acknowledge it, camera cuts away, when it cuts back, Matt Jackson is making some kind of humping motion or pointing at his dick. They also make sure to highlight the chant in BTE this week. If you haven't seen it, there's a song playing during the match highlights, the song stops, and they get a nice clip/shot of the chant. I tend to agree with the belief that it's not a great look to have the EVP's of your company do that. No, they didn't tell the crowd to chant it and I truly couldn't care less what they chant. They can chant the lyrics to "f*** the World" by ICP for all I care, but I do agree that it's a bad look to have EVP's out there doing that. And I hate that I had to go through this shit like the f***ing Zapruder film, but for whatever reason, the AEW fan base is quickly becoming toxic and will immediately light into anyone who doesn't praise The Elite, so I wanted to make damn sure I was accurate in what I described. It's become almost political, where you have to take a side, then you must swear to shit on anyone not on your side. The problem with that is that (to me, at least) it's becoming apparent that all parties involved f***ed up (some more than others). As I said in another thread, CM Punk was an absolutely disrespectful dick for the way he acted at that press conference. However, Matt and Nick aren't exactly proving him wrong with his portrait of them during that press conference. And if Tony is telling the truth and Punk actually didn't ask for Cabana to be released, he's at fault for not coming out A LOT sooner with that to his talent and putting that to rest. Trotting Cabana out there like he did seemed petty and further pushed the narrative that Punk wanted him out and now he gets to come back since Punk is gone. I just wish there was some sort of magic button to push to erase this shit from wrestling history. Not only because I was enjoying Punk's work in AEW and the fact that we were cheated out of the Punk/MJF story continuing, but the way fans of both sides have absolutely showed their asses throughout this thing has turned me off of wrestling a lot since it happened. Now that I have typed all of that, I eagerly await the replies telling me how stupid I am, how I should 'piss off', or the various GIFs/pictures that say something similar. I actually agree with your point but this post ain't worth a side eye gif or something. You're just assuming and projecting Because it's the exact responses I get? I can understand his trepidation

I mean if you want to completely bury your argument six feet into the ground before it even starts, being as condescending as possible to the rest of the board in how they may or may not respond to your Zapruder film breakdown about what the Elite were doing during the "F*** CM Punk" chant is the way to go, so congratulations? Friend, it's not a matter of being condescending. I'm just acknowledging I likely typed all of that shit out for no reason other than to get a negative reaction. I guess you could say I'm just mentally preparing myself. You're inviting the negative reaction by posting that though, like literally saying people are going to be dicks to you, you're trying to create a self fulfilling prophecy by calling them dicks before you even see how they react to your post Your post wasn't even bad, you should give people here a little more credit than that. The posts in this thread that are being reacted to negatively, are people saying Punk could sue for a f***ing crowd chant or trying to connect the situation to Kyrie Irving... you know, posts that just make you kind of stand there and gawk that they were used and were actually serious There is literally nothing wrong with thinking The Elite shouldn't have done what they did, but I also think there's merit in why they did what they did. It's not cut and dry black and white, but the STRETCHING some are doing to try and hate The Elite in this situation and put Punk in more of a devil's advocate situation are why a lot of posters here are rolling their eyes hard. I don't think it's fair to say "Well everyone's just gonna be a dick to me anyway" isn't the way to go about this, you make the fire bigger, is all I'm saying.

And this is why I don't comment much in the AEW board. It's toxic as f*** if you don't agree with the narrative.
I don't like CM Punk, I don't like the Elite and I literally said everyone was to blame.
However, BTE focusing on those chants IS promoting it.

Think what CJB is saying is it’s like when people starts threads with “i know i can’t say anything negative about AEW but.....” when you say that when you’re asking for trouble

I don't like CM Punk, I don't like the Elite and I literally said everyone was to blame. However, BTE focusing on those chants IS promoting it. You said that Punk and his lawyer would be rubbing their hands together, people reacted that trying to sue over a crowd chant would be literally impossible and meme'd it accordingly, and the AEW Board is suddenly toxic? Like, this is also why people in the AEW Board who don't react or fall in line with negativity also get tired of these arguments, because if you point out how something is ridiculous or you don't agree with that notion, suddenly you or the board at large is the problem and is toxic This thread went on a pretty chill road for about 650 pages with little to no toxicity, only now that people are trying to continually justify or merit Punk or say The Elite should be punished more or shouldn't even be here anymore, have arguments ensued and is the Board suddenly toxic... funny how that happened.

Think what CJB is saying is it’s like when people starts threads with “i know i can’t say anything negative about AEW but.....” when you say that when you’re asking for trouble Regardless of what opinion you attach it to, it is a way to openly court hostility because you've already started off on the presumption that you will be attacked, and people maybe. Don't like that implication. Passive-aggressive conjecture about how your post will be received is a self-fulfilling prophecy and this is true of any topic.

You're going to get disagreed with, especially when you say something wildly out there to try and convey your point, and this isn't just something exclusive to FAN, and never has been.

It's unfortunate, but The Elite/AEW can be a toxic subject matter and I'd really not like to get told how dumb I am for a differing viewpoint on professional wrestling. If I want to hear how stupid I am, I'll just talk to my wife *buh-dum-tssh*. But yeah, I genuinely didn't mean to be condescending.

It's not about suing a crowd chant. It's about the Young Bucks YouTube vlog very much promoting and encouraging those chants by highlighting them. As I've said, repeatedly, all parties were in the wrong, but it's beyond pointless trying to argue this with you.

Glad others understood what I meant by promoting it...Always a horrible thing when people constantly just pick stuff out of your posts to misdirect and assassinate you with.
I don't outright attack anyone except my opinions regarding the subject so do you I guess...
It was an example of posting something without consequence Like Kyrie did and that is what the Bucks did as EVPs.
Obviously, the messages are entirely different in scope; all I said was it was petty but to say they are not turning the knife is untrue

The posts weren't even that bad that I can really see on it. I sympathize if you just don't want confrontation or aren't a fan of it... but no one here was wrong or imo toxic in any of their responses to the points provided, and once again, no one here has even argued once that all of the people involved were wrong in some way, not in almost 700 pages as far as I've seen. No one is innocent, but the projection against The Elite I think is really safe to say, been a bit overkill for what they did compared to CM Punk. But that's just my opinion on the discussion board as well.

I'm not even disagreeing with you on the argument that everyone made mistakes here, I've said the projection against The Elite is a bit extreme, especially when the chant was organic and the crowd are all free thinking people Punk also tried to smear their names for months by making up fake stories about how they were the aggressors that were proven false, really, if Punk and his side didn't poke the bear I don't think the Elite would have even poked back, but well, as you said, all parties could stand to just drop it after this point. The most umbrige I took with your comments is that the AEW Board is toxic, this thread has been so chill until people tried to play Devil's Advocate on the situation, just saying.

But yeah, I'm the toxic one. "Deliberately" is a huge stretch and reading this much meaning into the tea leaves of assuming people thought you were talking about legal action is a sign that maybe you're starting off on a real unhealthy foot with this.

I didn't mention that at all, just commented on what I see and why I avoid places in general. For the record the suing the crowd thing is ridiculous. It'd be like women in ecw trying to sue the crowd for libel for the chants the fans directed at them
