CM Punk is turning into the JK Rowling of wrestling. I mean, not the bigoted part, the "being rich as hell, recognized fully, and still a delicate, whiny, mean-spirited piece of shit to anyone and everyone that isn't constantly appealing to their ego" part. It is a miracle that in the testosterone fueled locker room of the WWE of the late 2000's, no one straight up beat his ass. |

Didn't nobody want to f*** with him in ECW until Paul Heyman stepped in? I do remember Shawn being one of the people that went to bat for him. Like some of the people in the back were laughing at him for not getting "it" ... whatever it was... and Shawn said something like "for f***s sake if there's something he's doing wrong f***ing tell him." Yeah I don't think much was actually Punk's fault. He didn't fit the look that the WWE's wrestlers had and was over on his own. |

I really think its all a work (minus the Colt stuff). If you look at Hangman's last promo before they main evented that PPV, almost everything he says he is protecting AEW from has slowly started to happen. CM Punk has also been making periodic heel comments, that seem way too calculated. The summer of Punk in ROH was a giant work against the fans. No. No, no, no, no, no.
That is wishful thinking. This is a dude suckling his fingers airing his many, many grievances before the world while his gobsmacked boss sits there gormless and does nothing.

Not just that, not only did he keep cutting Tony off, but at one point, he says "I'm trying to run a business". And that's telling as all hell. He's shoved his hand so far up Tony's ass he could wiggle his fingers out of Tony's mouth. He's acting like _he's_ the one running the company now. Tony needs to take charge, and fast. Ya think maybe his dad catches wind of this or dude is so far removed he couldn’t even grasp what’s happening? Pops doesn't care. Football season is starting Unless AEW is in the headlines for something really stupid and TK (and his name by association) is caught up in it, he's just going to let it go |

Work yourself into a shoot brother.
For being the worked shoot / meta /pipe bomb “badass”… Punk has the thinnest skin imaginable.
He can dish it out but can’t take it. He seems to cry like a baby if anybody takes a personal shot at him. Even if Page’s promo was standard im here since the beginning and the heart and soul of the company and you are the outsider here for a pay check with a tad hint of “ read between the lines”
Also why bring in Ace Steel at all? It just brings the Colt stuff to the surface people are expecting him to show up at this point. This is some late wcw garbage at this point and kinda overshadowing the talk of the damn ppv.
If it’s a work… What is this even leading to Punk vs. Hangman 2? The Second City Saints vs. The Elite? If it’s just backstage drama it makes the whole company look second rate.
Also why do talkers like MJF and Ethan Page need a manager? That whole group looks like names picked out of a hat.

This forum has been handling this relatively well overall, but just as a reminder, you can feel that WWE's treatment of Punk was wrong while also coming to realize that he has always been a massive asshole and everyone might've been better off if he stayed retired.

Eh, feels like that's correlation rather than causation. We're hearing about a lot of issues that have assuredly been brewing for a while. AEW started in 2019, and time will make small problems grow into big problems - the three year mark seems about right for a few unattended issues to have cracked wide open. |
