Ultimately the elite being in a position of power is anachronistic. The company has been around for long enough for TK to find people he actually trusts as 'his guys', that includes Jericho. The EVP thing seems like an awkward relic I don't think we actually know nearly enough about the inner workings of the company to make that statement. |

Basically all reporting indicators that the only EVP who still did anything was Omega. |

I do kind of want a glimpse into the world where the associated drama didn't happen and instead we just have the inherent ridiculousness of, "Punk got injured immediately after winning the title again, we need an interim champ again!"

I do kind of want a glimpse into the world where the associated drama didn't happen and instead we just have the inherent ridiculousness of, "Punk got injured immediately after winning the title again, we need an interim champ again!" I think it's just a lot of "PUNK IS FRAGILE AND SHOULD RETIRE" and "SEE? SHOULD HAVE KEPT THE TITLE ON MOX." Both of which, honestly, I can't really dispute at this point in time. |

Remember when AEW was founded, and Tony was adamant that he wouldn't be all over the product? Pepperidge Farms remembers. He's legit spoke on camera for Dynamite 3 times. To announce the New Japan Deal, to announce buying ROH, and for Brodie's Memorial Show (and he appeared once on Elevation). He only speaks on camera for important issues and this falls into that. I know this situation is easy to dunk on Tony, but him speaking about the titles because of this issue isn't one I'd dunk on him for I didn't say anything about Dynamite. He comes out before plenty of shows and closes out plenty of shows too. He hosts multi hour scrums after every PPV. He did the paid advertisements on Impact shows for weeks. He's a front and center figurehead. I'm just saying it's another divergence from how the company's leadership originally postured themselves. |
