Honestly if Punk was that badly injured I'm just wondering why the hell he even did the media scrum in the first place. Honestly, I just think he wanted to take a shit all over Hangman.

Every time Tony Khan comes out after a show to thank the audience for being there I develop stronger trust issues because he said he wasn't going to be involved in storylines BUT THERE HE IS. The real storyline is the war he's waging against my trust. See I agree, Tony says he doesn’t want to be a character, but he is. It’s situations like these that I wish AEW had an authority figure. Not full blown all the time, more like a Jack Tunney type. Only brought in every once in a while for situations like this.

So according to Fightful, Punk tore his triceps. Thats him on the shelf for potentially the better part of a year. Tricep tear is normally 6 months.

That injury has to have affected Punk's stock. Keeping him around after what's gone done would be dubious anyway, but doing so when he's gotten hurt after just coming back? Cold hearted as it might be, there is something to be said about how much investment is really worth it at this point, especially in someone who's this controversial anyway.

Starting to think Punk knew he was badly injured and decided to go out with a bang due to being bitter about it.

He's legit spoke on camera for Dynamite 3 times. To announce the New Japan Deal, to announce buying ROH, and for Brodie's Memorial Show (and he appeared once on Elevation). He only speaks on camera for important issues and this falls into that. I know this situation is easy to dunk on Tony, but him speaking about the titles because of this issue isn't one I'd dunk on him for I didn't say anything about Dynamite. He comes out before plenty of shows and closes out plenty of shows too. He hosts multi hour scrums after every PPV. He did the paid advertisements on Impact shows for weeks. He's a front and center figurehead. I'm just saying it's another divergence from how the company's leadership originally postured themselves. Most of the time that is off-screen or media stuff which isn't him being an on screen character. I'll give you the Impact stuff but that was on something hardly anyone watched anyways, so does that really count

Would totally understand it if Khan used this mess as a reason to pull out his cash. AEW would still exist (for a while) but as an YBs run indie.
It’s been clear for months now that in the wrestling community from performers to fans to backstage people lack the maturity for there to be two major companies.

I like doing sarcasm and I will seize pretty low-hanging opportunities to do it.

It's not like "legit" media are going to show up and give you attention. It's all the wrestling journalists who are going to cover your PPV no matter what anyway. It was sooo long too. They had already done a 5 hour show and it was after midnight and they then have a press conference that lasts for 80-90 minutes. WHY??!

In all this news that Ace bit Kenny, I wonder if anyone has checked if Kenny is okay, or do we have to wait for a full moon to see if he starts growling and growing extra fur?

Is he going to be released? Suspended? Is he going to drop the title?? Are they going to turn this into some huge storyline?
No matter what... He's injured.
Him being out for a long extended period of time regardless. Is the wet fart of an ending this story needed.

Honestly if Punk was that badly injured I'm just wondering why the hell he even did the media scrum in the first place. I'm veering dangerously close to the idea that Punk went into the scrum looking to do exactly this. Like he planned in his head "I'll get the title and then I'm going to run down every last one of those motherf***ers on camera. f*** it, I have the belt, what's he gonna do after I defend myself and everyone cheers for me?" It's already been mentioned in the thread, but I also kind of wonder about the hypothetical of Punk, high on endorphins and adrenaline and knowing he's injured enough to be on the shelf and have to relinquish at a minimum and possibly be career-ending at a maximum, and just making a spur of the moment decision to keep it real and burn everything down. For as much as people talk about athletic highs and runner's highs and such, I'm half jokingly half seriously wondering if it hit Punk extra hard from the combo of being straight edge and also back after injury like someone who'd gotten clean and then suddenly did a hit of something or other.

Hoping for Ace Steel to get an insane Chainsaw Charlie/Sabu style WWE run off this. I want him to debut at the rumble I want this dude to be wheeled out in a Lecter mask while the mercy seat plays and Michael Cole screams CAN IT BE... IT IS! I want him to literally canon consume that lil acrobat dude that kept winning the 24/7 title

Yeah cause WWE has never had backstage issues before, nope can’t think of one time not even when they were the only major company in America, nope I have no idea
