Probably, though I don't think they will ask magazines not to show CM Punk in a vunerable position. If his MMA career has shown us one thing, it's that you can't not show him in a vulnerable position. Yep those shots should have been the catalyst to a lackluster ovation upon return but were immediately forgotten as soon as Cult hit...Pretty interesting

But they do want to do more with him; Colt is on a Ring of Honor contract and has worked every ROH show Tony has booked so far. Whatever the merits of why he fell off from showing up on AEW and what his role was reduced over, there has been intent to use him since all of this went down. Hell, giving him a big return pop and letting him try to stand up for ROH against Jericho can be coloured by the Punk thing without seeing Colt as entirely just a weapon; there's a very humanizing path to consider in "Sorry that you got thrust into the spotlight while you have sat there being silent and doing literally nothing wrong, we're gonna put you out in tfront of the fans, they're going to cheer for you, you should get this". The true question is if the general public is confusing his importance to indie wrestling as whole with the podcasts, network security/pirating precautions, shoot videos, etc that Cabana pioneered than his actual importance to ROH in front of the camera which by in large is pretty nominal outside of his youshoots and tag runs with Punk. I don't think that factors into this situation at all.

Colt was one of those early ROH guys who might have rarely been high up on the card or racked up a lot of championships. But he was always a crowd favorite. He was important to ROH history in intangible ways.
When I was first getting into ROH during the Gabe days, the guys I was told to check out by several people were Punk, Joe, Danielson, Nigel, Homicide, and Colt.

It's really not the true question at all. I've refrained from quoting you because obviously no matter what I say it doesn't matter so we can agree to disagree my dude.

Colt was one of those early ROH guys who might have rarely been high up on the card or racked up a lot of championships. But he was always a crowd favorite. He was important to ROH history in intangible ways. ProfightDB lists 256 Ring of Honor matches for Colt Cabana. For comparison, that is more than Dalton Castle (172) and Bandido (51) combined. You can see him wrestle multiple times in every year of the promotion's existence up to 2019, and in most of those years he's been involved in at least one title program. He might not be Mr. Ring of Honor or anything, but he was there from early on, stuck with the promotion through most of its existence, and been a fan favorite the whole time. Given the defense was on a throwaway Dynamite and they didn't have him cutting promos talking about how the blood pumping through his veins is the blood of Ring of Honor en route to a huge PPV match meant to be a key cornerstone of this Jericho story, I'd say he was more than reasonable in that role. Exactly trhe kind of guy you want in that particular middle zone.

Homicide vs Colt Cabana is basically a glowing, pulsating example that, no, Colt wasn't just a Punk accessory in ROH, and it's only one of them. He definitely had importance outside of the Second City Saints.
It'd be a bit like saying Alex Shelley had no importance in TNA or ROH outside of his attachment to Chris Sabin and KUSHIDA when it's simply not true.

I have personally always likened Colt to more of an Al Snow than an emotional figure like Tommy Dreamer or any other pivotal part of the on screen product. A solid funny midcard/opener. "Simply not true" is completely subjective as well and I would say his involvement (or lack thereof) in the Dark Order and treatment of importance before this crap and throughout his time in AEW solidifies that.

It's probably your delivery on your posts but at times reading them you do come off more as a concern troll more often than not. Glad you made mention of people hate watching WWE before deleting it...Interestingly enough these are usually the same people that constantly ride me for participating in the AEW section. I barely even participate in the WWE section so it's even more blah to constantly be labeled something Don’t worry, I’ve gotten the same type of concern troll accusations from that account.

I pointed to a prominent feud that went on for many months that showed that, no, he did things beyond what you're describing, using something I can point to as objective evidence of that, not anecdotal or my opinion. Not saying you have to bow and scrape to it or something, but you do have me wondering how much you know what you're talking about with his ROH career when you're making that big of a mischaracterization and then pouting when people disagree with it.

Timeline recap: Colt gives his then-friend a platform to vent and tell his in-demand story. The story gets the duo sued by a now-fired doctor. Rich Punk says he'll cover legal bills. Doesn't. Somehow sues Colt. Friendship over. Colt gets job, likely with vouching from current friends (Young Bucks, etc.). Punk gets a job - because money (and the demand that will lead to more money). Colt disappears from broadcast product due to past. Punk opens a whole can of muffins. Everyone is mad at his fool for airing his petty grievances and calling out names, who he then challenge to a fight. As the bridge-burning aggressor, he will surely never be seen again in AEW. Moving on from this flawed reign and era (and in service of a different storyline), the still-employed Colt comes back for a feel good, morale-boosting match. The has been turned. AEW talent can get back to business as the dark clouds float away. >>I see nothing wrong here given the situation. I truly hope that is the eventual fallout...I am actually really interested in the whole "Delete the Elite" promo packages they are playing right now. AEW truly without the Elite is basically impossible considering their freakin name is in the company title...One of the most glaring yet seemingly harmless mistakes I feel they made with the conception of AEW. I am admittedly not a fan of them at all but those packages and they way they are edited is awesome. Yeah, I love ‘em. Both the teaser promo packages and The Elite. If I were a gambling man, though, I’d wager they’re just gonna come back. Like, in a big way, but no real explanation. Just “they’re back”. This whole fiasco and AEW’s decline in quality (In My Opinion) has made me realize despite being an AEW diehard from day-1, my commitment has never been to AEW; It’s been to The Elite. Shit took a huge toll with Cody leaving and it’s been worse with The Elite’s suspension, but yeah, whether ya like ‘em or don’t, they’re AEW. In a way, this has shown AEW could live without ‘em. Live well? That’s..up for debate.

Or it can simply be that it didn't have the impact that you seem to think it did across the board. I have been an ROH fan since 2006 going back and forth to Chicago Ridge. It was a hell of a brawl with rubbing alcohol that unfortunately they never really capitalized off of. It also has no barring on 2022 ROH so I still feel he was only used for his association with the drama and not because of his place in history. www.rohforum.site/viewtopic.php?t=4021Here is a thread from 2014 rohworld.com reiterating my standpoint. Pouting really? This place could really do with being a little less rude over stuff that has no general effect on them.

A blood feud where Homicide tried to, well, commit homicide against him multiple times was more than a blip on the radar. Are you really arguing that a feud where someone tried to forcefeed another wrestler Drano didn't draw any attention or leave any lasting impression with people?

We pretty much know Death Triagle's losing those trios belts, but hey, this feels like one of those match proposals where the outcome almost needs to be a bit predictable, huh?
I love PAC, but I dunno how many people are angling to see Elite get beat during their big post-scrum comeback.

The weird thing about all this back and forth banter and me being called a concern troll etc is the fact that i simply stated it was kind of petty and i wish colt would have chosen himself to not be used in this particular situation. Should he be used in the future? Absolutely...He shouldn't have been kept away at all...He is a friend to seemingly everyone (but Phil) and will be a good asset when Khan's ROH is finally established and that is where he should be.
In summation for myself here Colt Cabana is a great person, all things considered, and truly deserves to have a job I just am not wavering from the standpoint that the only reason he was used in that situation was a shot at Punk and I fully believe that in between my pouting.
