One of the greatest superhero cartoons and cartoons in general premiered on this day, September 5th in 1992.

Love the show, but it gave us Harley Quinn and Bruce/Babs. Neither are good things.

Love the show, but it gave us Harley Quinn and Bruce/Babs. Neither are good things. At least when Timm started losing his mind. (though WB has aggravated the Poochie-ing of Harley too) But other than that, let us not deny that this was/is THE definitive other-media version of Batman. It's the one that pretty much got everything right. Whereas I can pick apart Burton's, Nolan's, and definitely Snyder's for many reasons.

It's hard to fault it, though NBA sucks too, and I'm no fan of Bruce becoming a bitter old man in Beyond (one of the reasons I like King's ending for Bruce, still tragic but at least he's got a family)

If you consider it to match what was in the comics of the sixties, that is?

Still love it and I get why it’s innovative but I’m still salty Superman TAS doesn’t get the same level of appreciation in terms of so perfectly defining the character.

Batman TAS gave us a human Joker. He was insane but you could believe he did have emotions and loved Harley despite being abusive. Other media that just portrays Joker as an inhuman monster ruins Harley by association. IMO.

Superman TAS is super underrated Understandably, it is behind Batman because that is what brought on everything. Tho I think a part of what hurt Superman as well is the cliff hanger ending too. Imagine if they was able to dedicate a full season to that fallout

And it doesn't helped his character was neutered great in S1 of JL before they got it back right

I literally bought the box set for this a couple of weeks ago (it was on sale and the price was good) and I've started rewatching it. I remember some of the episodes from when I was a kid, but there are some I have no recollection of. It's still a good watch though. I just love the aesthetic they chose as Gotham still looks so good as something from a 20's film noir. It's timeless.

I will give all the credit to Batman TAS, besides being a generation defining take of the Batman mythos, and helping to build the further DCAU with Superman, Batman Beyond and Justice League (still think that Wonder Woman should have had a solo series too but whatever).
I do have to say that Batman TAS does have to give a nod a bit to two series before though: First would be Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians. Specifically the episode where they actually go into Batman's origins (I believe the episode was called "The Fear"), showing you can do darker stories like that in the medium of cartoons (IIRC a few of the team that would go on to TAS would be on this show too)
Second would be the 1988 Ruby Spears Superman series, which I see as a bit of a prototype for a then more modern DC Superhero show, with more dynamic looks than what came before.
But I do say Batman TAS took the lessons from those shows and molded it into something bigger in the long run.

Always had a mixed feeling on the show...
I mean I watched it routinely and enjoyed it but it premiered for my affiliate by replacing The Real Ghostbusters, which was by far my favorite show. So I always watched it with that in the back of my mind.
Clayface was also my favorite villain on the show and Batman stupidly pulled the plug on a process that would make him human again. No matter the reasoning, that was irresponsible and almost cost Batman his life afterward, and did cost Hagen his.

And speaking on the current batman movies, Jensen Ackles I feel did a really good job with his portrayal in The Long Halloween
