New Japan Pro Wrestling tonight has announced the creation of New Japan Tamashii.
Starting in November, the promotion will be launching with events in New Zealand and Australia, with inaugural shows starting on the 11th and the 13th. Talent from New Japan and The Oceanic Independents will be seen there.
Kenta, Taiji Ishimori and Bad Luck Fale, who runs The Fale Dojo and hosted The Lion's Roar webseries are the first names announced.
New Japan is continuing its expansion and looks to stake a claim in Oceania before WWE creates its own NXT there. Guess we will call this NJT

Honestly, with how many Oceanic wrestlers they have on the roster (Aussie Open, TMDK, Fale, Jay White, etc.), it makes sense to expand there.
Plus, it'll probably be easier for them to gain traction over there compared to NJ STRONG having to compete with WWE, AEW, and other indies.

I’m surprised they used a Japanese name considering how much English they like to use in Japan. And they’re expanding into an English speaking country
Tamashii means Soul btw
New Japan Soul
Or spirit. Maybe like Fighting spirit?

Yeah this is an incredibly smart move on New Japan's part considering it's like one of the prime regions they've been getting dudes from for like the whole last decade.

Honestly there’s a wealth of talent from Polynesia just waiting to be tapped into. Super smart expansion plan.

Aussie Open and Henare are already declaring that it's United Empire territory.

Australia is becoming a hot bed of talent, New Japan having a hub there could help them all out in a huge way

In fairness the Strong shows do sell very well and tend to be well received

I know Australia is apparently very amicable to wrestling, it's just usually geographically kind of difficult to make it worthwhile for an extended presence. This is probably going to go a ways towards helping that.
