That was only 2 years ago. Feels longer but he def looked like a damn beast with both the IC and IWGP HW title. Gedo booking failed him on this one. Instead of trying to book him in 45 min matches, he should been booked in 15 min sprints. Instead we got interference after interference The most memorable thing about his reign was Hiromu screaming his head off as EVIL music played

I really liked EVIL at one point. I was even intrigued to see what he'd do in Bullet Club.
House of Torture sure as shit changed that.

EVIL has the look, wrestling ability, gimmick etc for him to have been a constant in the main event The biggest intrigue was if he was going to basically to break off and do his own thing but they are content with keeping BC together in subsections and just flipping the pieces when needed Tama getting away from that has done wonders for him

House of Torture have actually found a sweet spot as the cartoonish mid-card heels with a death grip on the NEVER 6-man titles.

Death grip ain't the word tho they did lose them back to CHAOS who also has a strangle hold on them Sho should be challenging for the Junior title but with Ishiimori with the belt, he's stuck in limbo with the NEVER 6 man titles for now

The G1 coverage threads on here were how I learned about House Of Torture because everyone described it like the worst thign that ever happened to them and now I think of every rly weird shitty stable as [insert company] House Of Torture.

A very frustrating period it has to be said, I feel really bad for the guy that he ended up with such a poisoned chalice.
The New Japan Cup itself was booked really well I thought, the quick win over Yoshi-Hashi and the escalating heel antics were done very well I thought at the time.
Putting the belt on a new main-eventer during a time where your ticket sales were kneecapped no matter what you booked was also a very sound idea. The belt was still a very exclusive club at the time.
Having EVIL go to Bullet Club during the pandemic was also a very sound idea on paper, as important BC members like Jay and KENTA weren't around. Elevating EVIL to give Bullet Club a credible maineventer was a good idea.
But jeez, it's astounding just how much Dick Togo entering the scene just caused a vaccum of horror that really took a hold of NJPW. I don't think EVIL has really recovered yet, and itll take an Ingobernables Naito type reset to do so I feel.

Good idea, push a new star when you have none available.
Bad idea, doing Roman Reigns but even less interesting
