Simple enough question, but jerboas are desert rodents who, instead of keeping the sort of locomotion you'd expect from mice, rats, hamsters, gerbils, etc, instead evolved to hop around erratically, possibly to evade owls and other predators. They are very unusual looking, but does this result in them having a charm, or do they creep you out a bit? I've heard plenty of both over the years, so I am curious where FAN stands on these hopping rodents.

Awww they're adorable. They look like something from Star Wars. Right, if it wasn't a pain in the ass to wrangle actual animals, someone could easily throw them into a sci-fi or fantasy movie and most people would just assume it was made up for it. Reminds me of how, since they were still considered fairly exotic to most of the world at the time, in the Bela Lugosi Dracula film, there's a scene where they just throw in an armadillo hanging out near his coffin.
