I wouldn't change a thing.
This particular one got ruined because the most volatile personality in the business was in his feelings and was too unprofessional to restrain himself.
One monkey doesn't get to stop the show.

If I'm Tony, I would be very careful who I'm giving a live mic to, and those I do I'd be aware of what they are going to be saying and to who.

I’d say they need someone to make the talent behave and not say stupid shit, but when the owner of the company can’t be trusted either..bin them. This one took away any focus and hype of their biggest story of the year (MJF returning) and also derailed the planned feud for that story and also made them hot potato their main championship AND their brand new ones..and for what? Not worth it. End it. I think if Punk was insistent on saying all of this, he would have found an outlet. I don't know that it's a media scrum that's responsible

I think it's necessary to rein them in, primarily to maintain some ability to suspend disbelief, but also to prevent incidents like these recurring.
While I get the desire to raise the company's legitimacy by having outside journalists at these things, I don't think it's particularly helpful because it adds an incentive for someone to go rogue and throw egg into the company's face again. New Japan has its own interviewers acting like they're covering the Iraq war stepping into a heel locker room; why AEW doesn't do the same is beyond me.
Dare I hope, by the way, that WWE also takes on this style of backstage reporting?

Imagine late WCW Scott Steiner doing a media scrum Why must you tease me so Uhhh..I dunno. I absolutely think no-more Tony. Thank you TK, you frenetic creature, for giving us more wrestling but he really, really, really doesn’t come off well. I’ve seen people suggest someone more orderly run them but..who is there really? I still don't know about the actual word "scrum." Scrum sounds like some sort horrible breakfast alternative to gruel made with leftover bread crumbs that gets all crusty at the bottom of the bowl when you heat it up for too long. Scrum for breakfast today kids. Kids - I am tempted to post a Riley Reid meme but it’s late and I’m old and I’m tired and I don’t wanna get banned

Scrums are fun enough for what they are, but I imagine that they will probably be more disciplined. my guess they start asking what the person is going tosay before hand... and Tony has a "if I start talking telling you to shutup you shutup"

Punk picked the reporter and tried to get them to ask him about Colt and when they didn't bite he decided to go off on Colt all his own. I can't imagine that he would have only done it there.

A lot of his anger was aimed towards “wrestling journalists” and if the rumors are to be believed, he’d already had it in his mind to “make things interesting” cause so many would be there and had reported (in one way or another) on the Colt sitchy-ation. It kiiiind of sets a dangerous precedent of an opportunity for talent to go into business for themselves but I absolutely don’t see anyboooody coming close to the level of scorched earth that Phil did.

F*** it! Get all the wrestlers up on one big panel.
Get them all either high and/or drunk beforehand too.

Just have someone holding a taser. Boom! Problem solved. Any signs of someone about to go nuts on the press, one zap and they're out and carried out.
Fool-proof plan.

They should do international tours of media scrums, so I could bust into lockers rooms and pick some fights, too. "AEW confirms: Random fan suspended for slapping Sammy Guevara. His defense of 'The back of Sammy's head looked funny at me' was not bought."

Maybe it was just because they were overseas because, other than some (all?) Wrestlemanias, I don't remember them doing something like this.

Wrestling doesn’t need scrums or interim champions in order to look credible. It’s fake. We all know it’s fake. We enjoy it anyway. Just let it be.
