I seriously don't get how this woman keeps getting so many chances. I hate to be jerk but she's not good at anything. At least in WWE I got it from a political standpoint as she's one of Ronda's MMA friends and she's Roddy's wife. However AEW keeps trying to make her a thing too for some reason even though there's like literally nothing there. She's in a DARK tag team with Nyla and every TV match she's gotten outside of a Skye Blue squash she's lost to someone else I don't exactly know what kind of a "thing" they're making her but currently it's just midcard goon. They have more stock in The Trustbusters than her.

Marina is a mainstay on the AEW equivalent of Superstars/Main Event and I think she's won maybe one match on Dynamite or Rampage. I think people are really overestimating her push in AEW. Even calling her a midcarder is being generous.

People going "I don't know what they keep SEEING in her to give her chances" is just rough, she's not really featured and even when she is, she's put over a lot of other, better talents I also think her in ring ability is crapped on a lot, her style is very different, she's not crisp in there but she's still better than anything Brandi Rhodes put out, and I'm still gonna go on record and say those Brandi promos with Lambert were worse than this, those made live air, at least they knew to test this out on Youtube.

Brandi's position as on-screen talent in AEW was way more prominent than Marina Shafir and had the stink of nepotism on it. Really can't compare the two's places on the card. They're both bad, but Marina's hilariously terrible promo was on the C-show, not as part of a featured upper midcard angle on Dynamite.

Keep in mind, when Tay Conti left WWE, she was considered kind of squib that hadn't really amounted to anything, and then she went to AEW and was molded into someone with a lot of potential. (Love or hate her pairing with Sammy, she still is in a better position than she was when she left, much like Cezar Bononi is.) Sadly, it doesn't look like it's clicking, honestly. Maybe when Leyla Hirsch comes back, the two of them could maybe do something together, but I've got my doubts.

Difference is Tay is seven years younger and much better athlete so I can see why you would think there's untapped potential there. Marina it's just not there.

I feel like to be a Brandi Rhodes, there has to be an omnipresent perception that she's in charge and going to be pushed to the moon at any second, in addition to being bad at things. I've always found the notion that Shafir is some kind of mega-pushed office darling totally laughable, because her push has amounted to losing a bunch while Bunny, Leyla Hirsch, Megan Bayne, and Penelope Ford were all injured. If not of an impending superpush then at least the impending threat that we'll see "another Brandi experiment". I don't think we were ever in danger of a push to the moon for Brandi, but Brandi was always someone who was either on television, or soon to be on television. The biggest problem for Brandi was that her material was always bad but if she wasn't injured or on maternity leave she was always someone who could show up and cut a promo or try to work a match. Always. Like her association with Cody meant nobody was going to tell her how bad her segments were. or going to say that yeah nah this wasn't the right thing for her to be doing. If Marina Shafir is like that eternally not good forever, one day they'll give up on her and let her slide off into obscurity. With Brandi, it felt like we were never going to be rid of her until Cody walked.

Like Tay, she's a trained judoka. And she's only 34, so it's not like she's a decrepit old woman or anything. She's just not adapting as well to pro wrestling fake fighting as Tay did when she got to AEW.

34 isn't old but in her case it kind of is in that she started late and still isn't good. Most women in the business who are 34 have been doing it a while and have it figured out. From an athletic standpoint she's obviously not a slouch but she doesn't have the explosiveness like someone like Tay does.

She has presence and there are some flashes, but something seems missing.

She has presence and there are some flashes, but something seems missing. What she seems to be missing, to me, is structure. Like, on tonight's Dark, there was this sequence in her match where she blocked an ankle trip for a really long amount of time, and it looked super natural, but it ground the match to a halt. What it looks like to me, when combined with her background, is that she goes through a match moment by moment and just kind of acts or reacts logically in a combat sport sort of way. That's not the same thing as having a good match that feels natural, because wrestling is always about perception over realism.

I guess her wrestling comes off clunky in the ring is how I kind of see it? I always felt Shayna was the best worker of the horsewomen, though I didn't see much of her NXT run, and heard the complaints on here, the times I've seen her main roster matches, I've always liked the way she seems to work well with everyone on the main roster and she seems to incorporate a sense of realism to her work that feels natural
