Now I desperately just want to hear a conversation between her and Roderick Strong over breakfast to see if they're both that awkward day-to-day. I thought this was just a spitballing post but congrats, this is how I found out they're married. The promos their kids will do....

Also,I already knew I was shit when it came to geography, but I don't think I've ever heard of the country Moldova before this promo So at least she has that going for her It's internationally known that Marina Shafir is the Scourge of Carpathia and the Sorrow of Moldova.

Marina Shafir kind of reminds me of Dan Severn in wrestling in the 90s. Where, it's like, a lot of her stuff looks "good" and "real," but that doesn't necessarily translate to "entertaining" within the context of pro wrestling.
I totally see why they continue to use her on the YouTube shows though...she has all of the tools to be a major player in wrestling. Using her primarily on YouTube shows is an extremely low risk, potentially high reward scenario for AEW. If she ever figures it out, she could be a major asset for the company. If not, then no harm no foul having her, like, fight Sky Blue on YouTube.

Difference is Tay is seven years younger and much better athlete so I can see why you would think there's untapped potential there. Marina it's just not there. Marina's no slouch though. Like Tay, she's a trained judoka. And she's only 34, so it's not like she's a decrepit old woman or anything. She's just not adapting as well to pro wrestling fake fighting as Tay did when she got to AEW.
Difference being that Tay was already showing a lot of promise at the tail end of her NXT run.

I want to like her because she does look like a bada$$... but it's just not there (yet). Her entrance theme is awesome for what they want her to be. I just don't know if she will get there.

Possessing the tools doesn't mean you've figured out how to use them. Marina has a legit background, has shown flashes of really solid, unique in-ring work, has a lot of physical charisma in my opinion, and really just needs to work on ring psychology and promo ability. Don't get me wrong, she's far from my favorite wrestler...I just understand why AEW is trying to use her.

I really want to root for Marina because of her background and I want to support Jewish wrestlers in general. But yeah, she's not good at all lol. There is a loooooot of leeway I can give when English isn't your primary language, but good lord that was cringe. Not intentional heel cringe, either, just "this woman is dying in her own flop sweat" kind of cringe. Some people just aren't meant to cut promos. She's been in the USA since she was five years old. I don't think it's a language barrier issue. Woooooof. Then nevermind, she has zero excuse.

What the hell did I just watch? I DON’T KNOW HER!!!!! She is now the female Luger? I DONT KNOW She did remind me of Luger whenever she struggled to take off her hoody. At least she should be capable of taking off a hat. As for chances she had two title shots this year ahead of many more talented wrestlers. It makes sense on paper, doesn't matter if she loses and maybe she'll gain something in the process but that doesn't make it any better to watch.

What she seems to be missing, to me, is structure. Like, on tonight's Dark, there was this sequence in her match where she blocked an ankle trip for a really long amount of time, and it looked super natural, but it ground the match to a halt. What it looks like to me, when combined with her background, is that she goes through a match moment by moment and just kind of acts or reacts logically in a combat sport sort of way. That's not the same thing as having a good match that feels natural, because wrestling is always about perception over realism. I guess her wrestling comes off clunky in the ring is how I kind of see it? I always felt Shayna was the best worker of the horsewomen, though I didn't see much of her NXT run, and heard the complaints on here, the times I've seen her main roster matches, I've always liked the way she seems to work well with everyone on the main roster and she seems to incorporate a sense of realism to her work that feels natural Shayna is by far the best of those 4 and it's not even close. A benefit is that she learned the basics and worked in other companies so she had a base before going to WWE. She started late as well, but she was a natural at it and Marina just isn't. The fact that Marina did so little in NXT during the time she was there is telling to her ability level. And I don't think Shayna got the credit she deserved during her NXT title reign. She was on top when the division was at its weakest. Bianca wasn't at the level she attained on the main roster, Dakota and Tegan were injured. Candice was just starting and she didn't have much of a character yet. Io was new and she didn't click into that next gear until she turned heel. Toni was in NXT UK. Shayna lacked that great rival until Rhea caught fire.

Do they know just because they film it doesn’t mean it needs to be apart of the show..

Wow, that was terrible but tbf at least the hat and awkwardness are at least the first steps to something resembling a character. Just don't let it anywhere near the televised shows yet. Her Villain origin story being that she's apparently angry with the city of Albany amuses me. At one point she lunged out of the ring at seemingly nobody in particular You mean Violin Origin Story

It's like she just watched a bunch of Sid's worst promos and said "I can do that."
