Man with executive level position in football team makes tweet about football, internet strange people twist themselves into strange shapes to find a reason why it's actually a coded message. I personally don't really care, but I don't think it's that hard to realize he's tweeting about RAW ratings and that this isn't just a football exec tweeting about football. He didn't do this on a Sunday or a Monday or a Thursday. He did it shortly after RAW ratings came out. I think the point is that yes it was in reference to the ratings being due to Football competition, but ultimately who f***ing cares? This doesn't hurt WWE in any way and it's a simple joke. I think I and others are just tired of the people who constantly get angry at Khan's tweets like "He shouldn't SAY THAT" when HHH has said just as bad if not worse, and it's just like... whatever? This isn't going to effect AEW or WWE's future, and it's far from petty, it's just a joke. Cody Rhodes once tweeted about how his real rival was "Guy's Grocery Games" vs AEW, this just ain't serious lol

Again, I applaud Tony's shitposting abilities as they make me laugh and as I said in my own post, I don't particularly care either way, but I also don't think it's necessarily fair to suggest that people were taking his tweet out of context or something.

Might be a hot take but Tony kinda needs to learn to shut the hell up at this point. He's been making himself look worse and worse ever since Vince stepped down. And last I checked, at least WWE has their locker room in line and aren't letting talent go off on their EVPs during media/press scrums, leading to a backstage brawl that people talk about for 54+ pages. Last I checked, at least AEW doesn't do business every year with a tyrannical regime that engages in human rights violations every day, subjugates over their female and LGBTQ populations with an iron thumb, and murdered a prominent journalist inside one of their embassies. I'm just saying.

Tony being a goblin on twitter has happened before, but it's usually in service of something. People talk about MNF hurting Raw's rating a lot but not really with any kind of smug joy to it. There's no accomplishment. There's no gain. People can say he's taking a jab, but can they put that jab into words that don't sound like a cartoonish caricature of the guy straight out of an r/scjerk meme? The abstract idea of what he's saying is easy, but the actual in-practice meaning of what it would actually convey doesn't really track for me. He's ripping on a show for doing 120k fewer views because of football to what end? Usually full twitter goblin Tony is saying something and going somewhere, and he's showing his own show's performance off in the contrast. This is just "football exists and its existence means some people don't watch Raw". What's the brag?

I might be enjoying AEW’s product right now, but Tony Khan is in no position to be taking jabs at WWE right now, playful or otherwise, the media scrum and everything that went down after proves that he has absolutely no spine at all and needs to learn how to grows some balls and run a locker room better before even thinking about taking jabs at a major company that’s been around 5 + decades when he’s only been in the business for 3 + years. He’s virtually still an unknown in the business so these little jabs are making him, and AEW look really bush league. So basically, Shut the f*** up Tony I'm sick of this "The media scrum proved he has no spine" garbage too, the scrum was a shock to everyone, and when it happened and the fallout happened, Punk got handled accordingly. It's actually better that Punk got out what he got out, because all it did was incriminate him further and guarantee he lost the room, because it was his decision to do so and his consequences came, pretty damn swiftly too. Bush League my foot btw, HHH called them a "Pissant T-Shirt Company" when they were first launching, a little tweet about the NFL being stiff competition when he's a part of a Football Organization is literally the most harmless thing on the planet and people like you are treating it like it's the worst thing in the world, I think that's a bigger problem than anything. Mountains gotta stop being made out of Molehills, this shit ain't healthy.

In this case, it's in service of keeping the attention on AEW leading into Grand Slam tomorrow while also taking a little shot at the competition, just like he did earlier today with the whole "the Northeast is the real crown jewel of the wrestling market, not that Saudi BS." That's my two cents, at least. It's most definitely not just a 'football' tweet.

People take this shit way too seriously imo. He's touting his success and making a light jab. Cole took the piss out of the AEW All Out chaos a week or so ago and that was funny too. It's harmless stuff really

Acting like WWE aren't still doing underhanded shady shit while AEW goes through any drama is really weird to me, no one has a moral high ground here, and Twitter jokes are just Twitter jokes, it's just not serious, it shouldn't be as serious as some are trying to spin it, they're just that wound up when in reality, wrestling's in the best position it's been in decades, and a tweet doesn't change a thing.

I'm just saying. You are right, the Khans do business with a different tyrannical regime in China, especially with how much the Khans praise them. That's ignoring Flex-N-Gate being considered one of the worst factories to work in with how anti-labor they are. No one here is defending WWE doing a show in Saudi Arabia. But at the same time, trying to act like Tony is a "good billionaire" is dubious at best considering AEW is funded by blood money, just from a different country.

Anyways, just to feel like I've contributed here: Not a shock that this rating happened. It's an anomaly as of now, the show itself is still pretty watchable on a week-to-week basis right now. I think they'll get some people back next week, especially if the White Rabbit stuff continues to pick up steam.

He took a shot at the Saudi shows to uplift and promote his own show. That makes sense. I don't deny that he does that. I'm just not sure what the actual stated message of this gif is supposed to be. If it's pot stirring, it's only pot stirring through the presumption of paranoia and tea leaf reading, and at that point we're on layers, y'know?

Yeah, I just think I disagree with you on how far you need to go to think of it as pot stirring. Feels pretty direct to me, but get why others could think otherwise. It's definitely purposeful, though. Anyways, didn't mean to derail the thread, either.

TK is also part of the NFL family so I'm not surprised he's taking some pleasure in football lowering WWE's rating.

Triple H was trying to poach his talent as recently as a couple of weeks ago. A troll-ish twitter post is literally the least Tony Khan could do to poke the bear when said bear's already tried to steal his pic-a-nic basket. Some sticks really need to be dislodged from some asses here. It's not that serious. As for the rating itself, this is an established pattern with WWE and NFL ratings. This always happens. I think it says something about the Triple H era that the MNF dip for Raw was the baseline rating without any strong competition in the most recent Vince-helmed shows. Like it could've been much worse if the show continued as it was if McMahon wasn't forced to retire.
