New Coffeezilla video on Logan dropped Nooooo. Despite recent promises that it was still coming Cryptozoo is officially dead. What a loss to videogames and art in general. That aside more deception and scummy behaviour. tl;dr - is a small number of scam victims are offered a partial refund if they promise not to sue.

This definitely feels like a rich asshole trying to bully someone with less resources for saying true things. Don't really see how Paul has a case but he's rich so it doesn't matter.

The f*** is he hoping to achieve here? To have the videos deleted? It's already known he's involved in crytpo scams.

Seems like he’s trying to clear his name from what the YouTuber was saying in the videos about him. If what’s in the lawsuit is true, Paul was texting his developers throughout about upholding the integrity of the game and the developers are the ones that duped him and he ended up losing money on the deal.

I think that’s a bit of a leap. The YouTuber has gone pretty hard at Paul and certainly hurt his reputation so if there are blatant lies that are being told then a defamation suit is the best way to try to clear your name. Of course , it could be the silencing part that you mention as well but a good lawyer is not bringing a high profile frivolous claim.

Considering Logan Paul is a known scumbag he has no reputation to hurt. Secondly Coffeezilla is a class act who does his research and gives people their chance to tell their side of the story. The guy doesn't go off half-cocked. Logan Paul's changed his opinions on Coffezilla's coverage of the matter on multiple occasions too which takes away a lot of his leg to stand on in court.

I’m not fully familiar with the facts of this so I’ll take your word that the YouTuber is doing the correct homework and phrasing things that he’s unsure about in a certain way to protect himself from these types of suits. For defamation purposes, there can be no defamation if there’s no lie being told so if everything the YouTuber said was true then he’ll have a strong defense.

People like Logan Paul put suits like this out all the time. Their goal isn't usually to actually go to court and have the facts come out (that's exactly the opposite of what they want to have happen) they just want to abuse the court system and use the suit to bleed out the resources of their target until they have to settle. Legal fees are expensive, but when you're as rich as Logan Paul is from being a complete and utter leech on society you're going to have more funds than a small time Youtuber. Billy Mitchell (of King of Kong fame) has been doing the same thing too for people exposing his cheating. Of course he's in a position where he's dealing with the Australian Legal system which is much harder to abuse this way.

This sounds like a pretty cut and dry SLAPP suit.
I hope Legal Twitter has a field day with this like they did with Vic Lasagna's attempt. Though unfortunately I can see Logan Paul having much more competent legal representation than Creepy Vic did.

Starting to read through the complaint, seems the narrative of the case is that Coffee was accusing Paul himself of knowingly trying to scam everyone while Paul is saying it was actually the two developers that scammed him and everyone else, Eddie Ibanez and someone named Crypto King. And that Coffee knew this because Paul sent Coffee all of his text messages with the developers seemingly showing he didn’t have ill intent, that he intended to build a legitimate blockchain based game and that he did not profit from the venture in any way.

Watch the videos in this thread and decide if you think Logan Paul ever intended to deliver the game he promised. Keeping in mind with his resources he still could if he really wanted to (which iirc is a point in the video). (Although there's not really such a thing as a legitimate blockchain based game anyway but that's not the point here)

(Although there's not really such a thing as a legitimate blockchain based game anyway but that's not the point here) If going just by his texts with the developers he seemingly did want to deliver the game, but he also seemingly had very little knowledge of how it all worked so he relied on others. Now of course ultimately it’s his responsibility as his company and as the public face of it. The suit though seems to be more about the framing by Coffee about his intent to scam people. Seems a tough case to win, though, in my non-expert opinion.

Which is extra stupid because Coffezilla has Lawsuit Insurance(that is an actual thing some youtubers pay for, especifically for the cases like defamation lawsuits)

Regarding the lawsuit he has a video of him thanking Coffezilla for exposing the truth, he has no case If you read the lawsuit, he acknowledges that Coffee was right about the whole thing ending up being a scam, that’s not what the suit is about. It’s about him characterizing Paul himself as the one with the intent to scam rather than the developers because apparently Coffee had the group texts between them that Paul says show that he wasn’t the one doing the scamming. But who knows, could just be a cleverly drafted complaint.
