My theory is that Dax is a good guy that says dumb shit and honestly, the only thing that he's said so far that's totally egregious to me is the Cornette stuff. Everything else I could just see being quotes taken out of context. It happens ALL THE TIME - and I mean ALL THE TIME - with the Conrad podcasts. I haven't listened to this one yet, but I've had to literally transcribe stuff and post it here at times when quotes have been pulled out of context.

To ask though about this, if hypothetically it was proven/revealed that the Elite were intentionally leaking or trying to sabotage Punk's name to the dirtsheets, wouldn't Punk be owed a public apology too? No. The ends don't justify the means. Leaks happen all the time in sports, in the entertainment business, everywhere. And if we're talking about leaks here, Punk would still be a hypocrite for using someone in the media to imply they smashed the door open and it slammed onto his dog, making him lose two of his teeth when everyone afterwards said that never happened. Like, if they're apologizing for that, shouldn't Punk be forced to apologize for implying The Elite assaulted an animal? I have to respectfully disagree there. Punk behavior was completely wrong but if EVPs were going out of their way to intentionally trash and sabotage him, that is completely unprofessional and not the behavior that vice presidents of the company should be conducting. I personally think everyone should apologize to each other.

I personally think everyone should apologize to each other. But this goes in the idea that there is something to it and right now, there isn't. It's just our speculation on it, which you said yourself was hypothetical. What we do know is that a) Punk ranted in public and buried his colleagues instead of dealing with it backstage (where a private apology would be justified from all involved if there was anything) and b) Punk assaulted two men and his friend bit another, two things Punk has basically joked about doing MMA commentary. Anything else is trying to muddy the waters with needless speculation.

However we all know the reason Punk was so set off was because someone had been telling Meltzer rumors that Punk cost Cabana his spot (and this was despite the fact Cabana had barley been on TV even before Punk return) and Punk insist that the Elite were responsible for the rumors. Punk for all we know may have proof that the Elite had been running to the dirt sheets which is the allege reason he went on his rant in the first place. We don't even know the details of the fight and what caused it to go down in the first place. Maybe it wasn't the dog, maybe it wasn't but the only version we have heard was the elites version were they paint Punk as some unhinged psycho who just randomly swung on them for no reason. This whole thing is a muddy picture that we still don't know everything about and what happened.

Regardless of all that, if you take away what happened backstage (which had way more sources across several websites saying what happened), he still went on a public medium and ranted about people in the company. You can add context, take away context, say a lot of it is muddy, whatever. That still happened. I can look up the press conference right now and see the footage.
He's a 44 year old man and he couldn't have dealt with that shit internally? To which the result was weeks of messed up booking and pointless debates like the ones we had to lock for various reasons? Like, frankly, who cares what set him off, he still dealt with shit like a child.

Oh he certainly handled it badly and I feel he have a lot more people on his side if he handled it more maturely still I am just saying if hypothetically and I mean hypothetically it is revealed to be true, that the elite trashed him behind his back and spread rumors about him, I feel the elite should apologize too. I only say this if it is truly proven that they did that because if it is true, it is equally childish that the elite did that not the least being that they are EVP and should be above that petty stuff yet may have been acting like a back school clique.

It’s almost pointless to bring up and we’re literally going in circles here.

Hell Will Washington (I believe) pointed out how after the "issues" Punk and Hangman had leading up to DoN, Punk had done press conferences with Tony and was very complimentary towards the Elite. So there was plenty of time where things could be hashed out or that Punk wasn't really angry, so if anything, many are starting to hypothesize that Punk just brooded over this while injured so I'd say he'd have to apologize because it seemed like the issue had been resolved

No journalist is ever going to actually give the name of their source and while I think it is possible it wasn't the elite that went to the dirt sheets, I certainly don't think they are going to tell us regardless of what for a variety of reasons.

Given they've openly admitted hearing stories from the Punk side, I see no reason for why they wouldn't admit that they hear from the Elite side. They can say that much without admitting someone like Punk or Omega actually spoke with them.

They can say that much without admitting someone like Punk or Omega actually spoke with them. Perhaps so. I do feel that when it comes to something more major like him trying to get someone removed from a job, the dirt sheets are not going to name the person talking knowing the source will face backlash and in turn not speak to them again. It's one thing when you are simply telling your side of the story, its another when you are basically talking to a person trying to spread nasty rumors about someone that are later proven false. Plus how much did Punk's side go to Dave? it seems like their main source was Nick Hausman who wasn't involved in the rumors and should be noted that Punk was initially hostile towards but actually admitted he was wrong and talked to afterwards.

I don't want to derail this topic but while Punk's behavior was horribly unprofessional and wrong, the fact is someone had Meltzer's ear and kept trying to spread rumors about him that we know for a fact are not true. Some one in high position was trying to sabotage his reputation there. Punk's behavior was wrong but someone else is equally out of line and responsible for this.

He talked big shit in public, so yes a public apology is needed Usually, I do not care about that shit but when you have no problem openly talking shit and throwing people under the bus, you have crossed the "privacy line". You made a spectacle of the company, your peers and yourself Apologizing would be the adult thing to do and whether people accept it or not is up to them but it would go a way of mending fences and showing some type of growth That's exactly it for me. And even if there will always be people chanting "F*** CM PUNK!" like what happened in Chicago and a section of fans never accepting the apology, it'd at least put out there that you're willing to amend and start sorting out the issues that you yourself ranted about. Like, if you want to make it an angle after that, whatever, fine, that's the least important part of all this. EDIT: Hell, even if it leads to Punk getting the payout he wants on the contract and he shows up in WWE the next week or whatever, that's the least he owes. Meltzer seems to agree that an apology here wouldn’t be needed publicly: “The injury is very much Punk’s ally in coming back because there is no point in making a decision until months later and the more time that goes by, the more the wounds heal on paper and wrestling history always says there is no such thing as never. I think a Punk apology, which shouldn’t be public but should be for those in the locker room, would make it more palatable, but whether Punk would do that is the unknown.”

To me it reads like Dave is admitting his own bias nature by including the "you of all people" part...which confirms he is bias as he's seemingly stating "ive treated you well unlike others"

FTR Bald has now even upset Dave haha LOL Dave is almost coming off as Will Smith saying "How come he don't want me man" in that tweet. I mean I totally get why Dax would be mad at Meltzer with everything that happened and doesn't have to like the guy just because he says his work is great.
