Savage was doing interviews around 02/03 challenging Hogan to a Real Fight. Hogan never answered to it and it never went anywhere. But there was a Incident at Tna 2004 were Hogan told Savage something which let to Savage later leaving. What was that whole Situation about? Savage's Tna Run was horrible anyway and there have been rumors about him wanting the title, which he had no business winning at that stage of his. What was Hogan doing there backstage around that time in Tna?

By all account, Hogan was just there hanging with some old friends, he and Savage happened to. Ross paths. Hogan told Savage something along the lines of “If you want to settle this, let’s go outside right now.” Savage declined and that was the end of it.

I was always more of a Savage than Hogan guy but it was pretty pathetic that Savage went to the trouble of releasing an album with multiple Hogan disses and spent the whole press tour trashing Hogan and saying he'll kick his ass then when they were actually in the same room Hogan says okay then do you want to do it and Savage ducks out and complains about an unsafe work environment.
Savage also wanted to win the world title from Jarrett at the following PPV but even TNA were like nope when he looked so terrible at Turning Point. They had to write him out of the match with a backstage beating then he came in for the finish and the only move he could do was a punch. There was no way he could work a singles match or be world champion.

How many elbow drops, top rope to the floor double ax handles, and whatever the move is called where you have the guy by the hed and you run and jump over the rope while impacting his throat on the ropes can you do before your body says "Enough!"

It's also easier to maintain your consistency when you are wrestling frequently enough and Savage hadn't wrestled since 2000, think of how slow and immobile Angle looked when he returned to WWE compared to him in TNA and the indies and it was 100% because he stopped wrestling for a period of time and his body finally was like nah. Savage had an even longer break

Someone who was close to the situation once said they believed Savage getting so upset about Hogan was also because he realized how broken down he was and this was a way to make a graceful (ego wise) exit.

Yo, that period where he leaned way out and was clearly pilled out of his mind was the scariest. Legit thought dude was going to drop dead at any moment.

Also, Savage didn't want to f***ing do anything, but he wanted to be champion, and there was the logical nightmare of "Okay, you don't want to sell or put over anybody cause you're a paranoid f***, so why should we give you the title?" Guy at the end was his own worst enemy.

The Double axehandle off the top of the cage in WCW the fact that the flimsy cage was further out of the ring, he couldn't get a steady base to jump from and just age... pretty much caused him to require massive surgery on both knees and he wasn't the same after.

Savage was one of the few guys that would bump like crazy in that old WWF ring. Most guys didn't want to bump in a WWF ring at all because everyone says it was like falling on concrete. I know that also had to play a part.

Good point. Never thought about that since I checked out on WCW about 6 months later. How sad to end such a legendary career on one ill advised move.
