It takes some doing to not have a clear and easy win after Tony lost his cool to that degree, but Ariel managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
Well, that or a bit of a draw, either or.

In this instance, the thing he has actually done is... very briefly appear on WWE TV around a PPV in his hometown. So the reaction has been pretty irrational, and he's clearly living rent free in Tony's mind. You forgot the part where Ariel called AEW fans "freakazoids" after the TK interview, continued to complain about said interview long after it was over, and said that people were "lying" if they thought AEW was better than WWE. Not to mention the fact that Nick Khan is Ariel's former agent, so there's already a conflict of interest there between WWE and Ariel. But whatever, Ariel is living rent free in TK's head for no reason whatsoever. Yeah like if ya rewatch the initial interview I can understand why Ariel was frustrated but it's not like Tony was rude and not really accommodating other than a few questions. It actually comes off fine. But the reaction after it was the issue. And my take on this again, I don't think Tony should have tweeted out anything, but I don't think Tony is a bad guy just lets emotion get the best of him. I just think the levels of hate he gets from some fans you'd think that he was a bigger criminal than Vince... and that again isn't to say you can't criticize stuff about AEW there's plenty to criticize (and as a big AEW fan I have criticisms for the product) I just am amazed at how much hate Tony gets when a lot of the stuff he says may be a bit cringey but in the grand scheme of things isn't that bad

The worst people have said in this thread from what I recall is that he’s thin-skinned and a clown maybe the harshest of it. Helwani’s gotten way worse thrown at him in this thread than that.

I feel like we have a tendency to treat stuff TK tweets like it's the Swole incident over and over again and, like, they aren't? They're weird at times but also find me a sports owner that hasn't said weird shit that isn't racist or discriminatory and you'll honestly be looking at a list that you can fit onto a palm. And I wouldn't have said anything either. But if I were WWE, I also wouldn't exactly be bragging about having a journalist on payroll because eventually somebody who isn't from the Observer is going to notice just like they did when he was caught about his relationship with UFC.

As someone who remembers when Ariel was Dana’s media lapdog back in the day (hell, I think I might have already mentioned it here in this thread don’t feel like looking lol) who was hated by UFC fighters, it’s funny to see him come full circle considering he actually managed to seem legit for awhile there. Dude’s always been a goof.

He's banned from UFC events? How big of a prick do you need to be to get cast out of places that allow CM Punk? He’s banned because he questioned the fighter pay issues and how little of the profits they see. This...This somehow keeps getting overlooked

Helwani appears to be a wrestling fan who wants a job, seemingly a WWE job.
The twitter spat was pathetic, but it seems more people outside of the situation care than those in it.
Tony needs to be better at being removed from things and not letting people make money off twitter spats with him.

This thread? Probably not. But when I see people insinuate on these boards that TK is racist because the Gunns won the tag titles during black history month? That's a bit too far for my liking

Sites are picking up on Bischoff commenting on this now:
“I was disappointed to see that. Look, I’ve heard a lot of the same rumors and I’ve heard them from people that are in AEW, to be blunt, and I don’t put any stock in them. I think it’s bad for him, no matter who you are, unless you were sitting down and watch someone, anyone, actually doing something, whether it’s snorting a line of blow or, you know, beating their wife, or whatever, unless you witness it with your own eyes, shut the f**k up.”
Bischoff thinks starting rumors like that is a bad reflection on the person and he doesn’t listen to that type of talk.
“It’s just bad. Bad. You don’t want to do that to people. I’ve had it done to me. There’s no reason for it. Tony is inviting a lot of this criticism. He acts like a petulant child in the way he responds, and his response to Ariel in the crowd was a petulant child whose feelings were hurt because somebody took his toy away from him. I mean, it’s just so absolutely childish. I think that’s a reflection, at least in my mind, of who Tony Khan is. He’s immature. He is a child with a vanity project. He’s passionate.”
Bischoff stated that he’s not taking that away from him, but thinks the way that Khan reacts to things further gives off a negative impression of who he is.
He added, “Tony should have never reacted the way he did to Ariel being out there.”
Pretty much what a good few here are saying really. A mess all round.

People just unnecessarily connecting dots that should not be connected.

Bischoff is opening up a whole can of worms though saying that he has heard the coke rumors from people INSIDE of AEW. That is about as close as you can get.

Oh my god bisch talking shit on his podcast is one of the least reliable sources on anything come the f*** on with that being a genuine source for coke tony lmao To say he does not have contacts within both companies would be asinine though even if you do not agree with his comments. His knowledge would be closer than 80% of the rest of the industry/fandom. He also didn't support the comments so these are actually some of the more level headed comments from EB regarding Khan even if it's going to really cause some 'ish by saying he has heard it from the inside.

The second Tony Khan lowers a motorcycle from the ceiling and challenges Ariel to a fight, I’ll start worrying.

I do think this is a relatively fair criticism of Tony. I dunno if I'd say he's a petulant child but he is very emotional and acts without thinking. Also while I do like Eric's podcast I think he should probably acknowledge he acted in a lot of the same ways at times when he was president of WCW

He has mentioned his own faults many times on that side of the podcast when it comes to letting personal feelings get in the way of money. This is an interesting situation with Khan because he doesn't need the money so personal interest is the entire reason to do any of what he does... I think that is where Eric fails to really grasp that Khan has been playing from the losing end from day 1.

I'd listen to the criticism of Tony Khan from a guy who didn't, without provocation, just openly make shit up about him. Guy made falsifiable claims about the guy and what he did in a semi-public space, so the whole "He doesn't listen to that type of talk" thing is so hollow.

In his Sensational Sherri episode, EB does talk about not understanding what Tony wants, but that eventually someone else may make him as relates to AEW, TV ratings and growth. as you say, if you can get past Erik being a bit of a mark for himself and his own pride in some areas, his podcast is one of the Conrad Thompson network's best, and when EB is being honest, he's usually not wrong in what he suggests or what he says he wants to know/doesnt understand.
