I do think there is some merit to having all the Peanuts stuff you could want, all in one place, but yeah, it's unfortunate that it screws over yearly institutions. It doesn't personally effect me, but eh, sucks having a comfort blanket taken away.

My Aunt who is in her early 80s loves Peanuts and she is going to be upset that she can’t watch them on TV anymore at least for now. She doesn’t have Apple TV.
Most of those Peanuts specials are so old that their target demos have been expanded to include older audiences almost kinda like old TV shows.

I don't understand why people are doing so much gatekeeping for these specials. It's not the 80's anymore where kids are waiting for a new one every month. Kids these days have never seen these, are not interested in them, and, considering how depressing some of them are, probably wouldn't like them. We've moved on as a society. If Apple can make some money streaming them to adults, then they're welcome to it. Yet people will still keep on selling Peanuts merch, some to kids. Bet another movie will be inevitable, some day. (moreso if Disney via 20th Century Pictures/Fox still has rights to do so) It's kind of like how the Looney Tunes will never die even though their time came and went similarly. A girl at work, she’s like 25ish, only knew of The Roadrunner and Coyote. Never saw them. We had to show her YouTube clips.

I need to quiz my seven year old niece someday about how many classic old cartoons she knows about. I doubt she'd ever heard of characters like Popeye or Woody Woodpecker.

Unless her folks put the classic cartoons on from Prime or Tubi.

Point is, the studios still use the LT in new projects even though the only people who actually grew up with them or would care the most about it are all adults/seniors.

Unless her folks put the classic cartoons on from Prime or Tubi. And TBF, not everyone is going to enjoy them as much as we did. I am thinking of James Rolfe's SatAM video and how his kid doesn't get into every show he used to watch. Not related, but related, but one of my fellow librarians was doing a trivia list and referenced Paul Simon's "50 Ways To Leave Your Lover" in one of the questions. Another librarian, around 25 or so, had to look up the song as this was the first she heard of it. Horrifying passages of time!

I am thinking of James Rolfe's SatAM video and how his kid doesn't get into every show he used to watch. I mean, growing up I didn't enjoy those old cartoons like Popeye or Woody Woodpecker or even the Looney Tunes as much as I just kinda tolerated them. I was a kid, I wanted to watch cartoons, or at the very least some form of kids programming, and those were what was on. Objectively, if you were to ask an animation authority what was better, a 50's Bugs Bunny short or Captain N: The Game Master, Bugs Bunny would always win. But as a nine year old I know what I would've pick and it wouldn't have been the rabbit. That's the thing with todays kids. They have so many choices they don't need to sit around and tolerate old episodes of The Yogi Bear Show simply because it's the only thing on. And I'm not gonna criticize them for that. I wish I had that childhood too.
