New Japan's spent a lot of time grooming Jay into a top guy, would hate to see him go.

Honestly, Jay White under HHH would be something special. Either that, or he'd be stuck in a never-ending losing battle trying to make Gallows and Anderson interesting.

Last note on commentary: I stuck with the English comms until Don Callis showed up. I switched to JPN within 10 minutes of listening to him.

Since Night before Rumble had guys like Crowbar, SAT and Homicide showing up, think we'll get some surprises like that tomorrow on the mystery show?

He was good back in the period around 12-14, but ever since he's never changed or added to his character. Just doing the same dull shtick and routine.

Jay is in desperate need of a change of scenery. Either with WWE, AEW, or full-time on STRONG to help them build that brand. He's hating wrestling in Japan and it's showing. Thank you. I said this last week, but as good as Jay is, there’s a strange aura surrounding him. Some of it is personal stuff (his wife’s health issues) that I would absolutely not blame him for, but still, it does feel like being in Japan is a chore and not a privilege. Which is a weird feel when this is your world champion. It’s the same aura that his buddies Juice and Finlay have, and at least one of those guys seems to be done with making the flight to Japan for the time being. As an aside, it was interesting to have the Ranbo finish and realize the number of gaijin talent that were just not flown in.

Kenoh is demanding a one-on-one match with Naito. He's also advocating for a singles match between Nakajima and Shingo.

Omega is reported to be in good condition following his match with the exception of a swelled eye.

New Japan's spent a lot of time grooming Jay into a top guy, would hate to see him go. So would I, but he's young, and it may do him good. Alternatively, I'd have Bullet Club either collapse or turn on him and beat the shit out of him, then turn him face on a revenge tour. Break him down to build him back up.

Wouldn't blame him if he wanted to go elsewhere as a result.

Just finished the show.
Wow; the highs here were very high, and no shock at all the pinnacle of it was Omega/Ospreay, holy ever loving shit that was incredible. I also absolutely loved Narita/Sabre (I have a feeling I'm really gonna like this TV division, and it feels like it's taking over for the old NEVER style division), the Jr. title match was blissful insanity, and I might've gotten a teensy bit emotional during the Mutoh six-man tag.
Some stuff didn't soar as high as it could've; the women's match could've maybe stood to go maybe five more minutes (though I appreciated how much they put into making it feel like a legitimate sprint), a few finishers got muffed, and while Okada/White ended hot it had one of the toughest acts imaginable to follow.
Still, seeing a few of the new young guys make their mark felt good; the talk of a "changing of the guard" has to start getting a bit realer in NJPW as some guys continue to age out of their prime years, as the general wrestling landscape shifts around them, as the promotions comes out of the pandemic era, etc. Many more pieces are yet to fall into place, but Narita and Shooter being so highly featured, and even Master Wato feeling like he had the crowd ready to go crazy for an upset win, were great signs.
