I expect this wont go down well but man this thread saddens me,i get eating meat is something that cant be stopped but some of the animals being eaten in this thread make me extremely depressed,i just cant understand how eating certain animals is at all right, although i would personally stop eating all animals full stop if i had my way and i am a vegan though i try not to force my views on anyone but man...i dont know this kind of thing just makes me sad. A big apologies for my rant, i cant help myself on the subject of animals at times!

There's a place right up the block from me that specializes in game meats, so along with beef burgers, chicken, and lamb they usually have alligator sausage and burgers made of bison, yak, camel, kangaroo, or elk, all of them quite good. Calamari and octopus are very normal for me; being Sicilian means it's just part of a lot of traditional recipes, and they're usually great. Yak …

On the subject of buffalo, I've had carabao, which is a type of water buffalo here. That said, it was an all you can eat buffet, and it was so seasoned that I couldn't really enjoy or make an actual opinion of the taste.
That said had drank carabao milk which I liked quite a bit. Especially the chocolate milk one - then again, it'd be pretty hard to screw up non-powdered chocolate milk.

Oh yeah, almost completely forgot that I had escargot in Paris. It wasn't bad at all, but then again anything drowned in butter and garlic is going to at least be decent. I also had escargot in France, and felt the same way. The garlic cream sauce was really nice. The snails themselves tasted like chewy dirt. Eating duck in China is different from eating duck in an American Chinese restaurant, as in China they cook and eat ALL of the duck. The heart. The tongue. The feet (you peel off the hard "shell" and there's a paper thin layer of meat inside). Chew the bones, deep fry the skin. I've even seen people eat the brain. Let's see. What else? Alligator Kangaroo Frog Quail Ostrich Elk Bear Llama Yak A lot of things from the ocean that I can't even name

Venison's pretty good. Lamb is alright if you cook it correctly, and PROFOUNDLY greasy if you do not. Gator was good when I had it. It was breaded and fried like popcorn chicken when I had it. It was sort of like if you crossed 85 percent chicken with 15 percent shrimp, in terms of flavor. Calamari's nice. Octopus is very chewy, though it tastes nice. I've had ostrich and kangaroo as jerky. Neither were remarkable, but that was probably moreso due to it being cheap jerky. I'd like to taste them in a more authentic context. I’ve had all of those. Venison is pretty good, as is lamb more often than not. I find I don’t care for octopus and it’s easy to find place that screw up calamari. I’ve also had kangaroo and ostrich jerky. I actively did not care for the kangaroo. Buffalo is also fairly tasty. There’s a burger joint here in town that offers elk burgers, which are really good as long as you account for the burgers being nowhere as juicy as beef because of the significantly lower fat content. Quail is fine, as is pheasant meat. I’ve also liked duck when I had it. Deer meat is interesting. Straight up, it is delicious. Put into sausage, however, is not something I care for. Deer sausage has to be made right or it is bad. Took me a few yeaars to find a good place locally to take the deer and make a good sausage out of it. Right now I got a jalapeno and cheese deer sausage that is damn good. Man I have ate all kinds of I guess odd meats. had raccoon once, greasy as hell and nasty. Elk,moose, snake, gator, shark all are decent. Decades ago a buddy's mom tried raising Emu. The market crashed and she had all her's made into jerky. It was decent. Deer Jerky is good.

Had have duck. Smoked duck for meat once, don't really remember it. Salted duck eggs are so good, the yolk is an amazing texture and taste but at this point it's a once every few months thing due to watching my blood pressure. Had dove at a wedding when I was young, again can't remember it. And of course, there's balut. On the subject of snails, I can't. I read Uzumaki and Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service, and both freaked me out. Especially the latter. On the other hand, the usual shellfish vendor I get my mussels from sells sea snails as well, and honestly I get kinda tempted at those and all the other shellfish they sell. And mussels are amazing. I can eat a whole ton of them. Two main ways, as tinola, with the broth being partially Sprite or 7UP, or cooked with coconut milk. Former I'm more familiar with, latter because the shell with the meat gets so much of the thick sauce you slurp the mussels down with spices. nt from eating duck in an American Chinese restaurant, as in China they cook and eat ALL of the duck. The heart. The tongue. The feet (you peel off the hard "shell" and there's a paper thin layer of meat inside). Chew the bones, deep fry the skin. I've even seen people eat the brain. Same with chicken here, really. Chicken feet, Adidas as they call here. Betamax the chicken blood cubes. Helmet the head. Tail/butt. Isaw/intestines. Gizzard, heart, liver. All good stuff. Best meat on a roast chicken is the meat lining the cavity because it's most exposed to the herbs stuffed in. And chicken necks blow out winds all the time. Chicken crop as a chicharon has the best textures to me as well. There's also day old chick, which pretty much describes what it is. Bit too bony.

Rabbit, use to be really cheap and available in most places in the UK now its pricey.
I had Shark when I lived in Sri Lanka, you can eat almost anything that lives in the Indian Ocean there.
Ostrich in a Chinese restaurant in London. Buffalo that was bread on a UK farm. Very Gamey.
