I've been watching the 1997 Pay Per Views lately, and Randy Savage just seems to be the highlight of many of them. He seems more motivated (even moreso than in 1996) and seems to really enjoy his heel role, and his feud with DDP is just epic. I kind of wish they didnt ally him with the nwo and just had him be an evil heel on his own. Of course, I dont recall much anything memorable about him in 1998, and the less said about pumped up 1999 Savage the better.

I thought he did some good work in the 1st half of 1998 as a tweener as well. Injuries hampered him in the ring a bit, but it was still classic Randy Savage. Then the injury took him out and when he came back he was almost unrecognizable.

His feud with Hogan as the unstable member of the nWo who couldn't be controlled in the first half of 98 was pretty good too. It was a nice payoff to how he was basically forced into joining the group in the first place.

Pretty much as he was injured for most of 98 and then 99 was the roidy magoo "what up Mach?" era and then he was done.

I'll just echo what everyone else said...he was pretty much good up until his injury.
So in a way, yes 1997 was Savage's last full great year.

I don't get it. At all. It's kind of a small horse, I mean what am I missing? Am I crazy?

Yes.
Hindsight being what it is, I wish Savage's career ended with the DDP feud in a retirement match

Honestly, I don't think WCW ever really knew what to do with him, even though there were numerous highlights. I think his last great year will have been in the WWF.

Didn't Savage hurt his knee when they had him jump off the way too big cage to do a spot in the Piper/Hogan cage match? Feels like that could've been a major turning point that hurt his in-ring performance moving forward.

Total attempt to one up Shawn Vs Undertaker and probably is only remembered for Macho's spot.

1997 was his last great year, but his last great act was helping form the Wolfpac in 1998!

1992 was his last great year, but 1997 was his last good year.
