I was thinking about how, when it comes to really big names, the pickings are pretty slim when it comes to HOF headliners or inductees that are still with us. Then I got to thinking about Miz's promo where he basically inducted himself. While the HOF is generally reserved for those who are already retired there are also a lot of current stars who have already had hall of fame careers. You have guys like Roman, Miz, Sheamus, Orton, etc. How's this for a suggestion? At the PLE before Wrestlemania have 2 top tier talents have a match to earn a HOF spot. It would give that particular show more of a selling point and it would give the winner some big time bragging rights.

It is but I'm certainly willing to concede a bad idea.

I think WWE tries to not kayfabe the HOF much. One problem would be, if it's two people deserving of a spot, WWE would likely want to induct both, anyway, and if you do the match, there's the implicit suggestion the loser will then never get it.

Needs more stakes. Winner gets a HOF spot, but the loser has to be stalked by Dexter Lumis for a full year.

I mean if dudes like HHH, Taker, HBK, and Cena had to wait until they retired to get in there’s no way that the Miz or Sheamus or whoever should still be active as a HOF’er.
It could work as a one off if someone like Orton was going to retire after WM, but that’s about the only way that I see it as viable.

Let me salvage this idea real quick - the match is now Heath Slater vs. Sid.

You win the match by tearing off your oponent's gear, throwing it in a burning trash can and redressing them in a business suit. Also, Malaysian slaves and screwdrivers are banned from ringside.

Also can the headliners as of today still go? I don’t think I want to see wrestlers wrestle past their career experation date.

It would be entirely worth it if we had a moment where someone is doing their induction speech, only to get beaten up and have their HOF spot stolen via MITB cash in.

I feel like the Hall of Fame is one of those institutions that still has a little bit of credibility to fans because it hasn't been cheapened with using a spot as a storyline crutch, save for Ric Flair's 2008 retirement because WWE actually stuck with it, even when Ric didn't.
Having it become yet another thing that people can fight for is probably not worth the risk, when the WWE and Universal titles have enough stakes needed.

The 25th Anniversary of Brawl for All is coming up, so maybe they could set up a duplicate tournament but you receive an induction instead of a knockout from Butterbean.

There’s still a lot of people who need to go in: Men: -The Rock -HHH -Lex Luger -Brian Pillman -Bam Bam Bigelow -Sid -Earthquake -Magnum TA -Giant Baba -Tiger Mask -Great Muta -Great Kabuki Women: -Leilani Kai -Velvet McIntyre -Rockin’ Robin -Victoria Tag Teams: -Midnight Express -Demolition -The Rockers -British Bulldogs Plus a plethora of guys on the roster now like Cena, Orton, Miz, Ziggler, the New Day, the Usos, Roman and Rollins who are sure to go in so long as they don’t burn bridges. And I’m sure guys like Jericho and the Hardy’s will be in eventually once their AEW runs end.
