Yeah, I totally get LOLMets right now given how bad the season's been against the backdrop of the high expectations, but I think a lot of fans should be concerned that it's now a team with Cohen's money and a deep farm. Ah, a game ending balk takes me back to Benitez balking Reyes home with a winning run...I'd say those were good times, but I think it was in 2007, which we don't talk about in this house. I get the LOLMets for that reason too, but yeah, things are much different under Cohen's ownership. The team isn't taking the same approach as they did when the Wilpons owned the team. Remember when the Wilpons did that speech where they claimed they "owed the fans" and proceeded to do the same shit as before? No matter what era of the Wilpon ownership you look back on, it's marred by incompetence. We've blamed lots of people over the years for it, but they were the only constant through it all. When the Mets actually spent money and had the highest payroll in the National League? They usually targeted older players and sucked at keeping an eye on what would come next, and thus you had that run in the 90s where the Mets could get close to the Braves, but would always be outdone by Atlanta's deeper farm system and better scouting. They knew how to build up teams that could compete for two, maybe at most 3-4 years at a stretch (e.g. they got better in 1997 then fell off by 2001, they improved in 2005 and were done by 2008, etc.) and then would subject the fans to years of misery in between. Then when the Madoff scandal happened and they had to cut payroll, you'd figure they'd wise up and start copying what the smaller market teams had done since Moneyball came out: invest in the farm system, scouting, analytics department, player health and development, the kind of stuff where they could ensure a good influx of young talent on the regular to compensate for not being able to run really high, New York style payrolls anymore. But nope! Fred and Jeff were obsessed with "winning the back pages" every winter and couldn't stomach admitting that they needed to do anything like that (they were obsessed with the Yankees and not wanting to cede the market to them...way to go, morons!), so you got constant half-measures and free agent signings at times when it made zero sense to do that, but not enough investment to actually put a good team on the field. I most remember that when Alderson first came in; Bud Selig basically forced the Mets to hire Sandy in 2011, because Selig was too loyal to Fred Wilpon to kick him out of the league like what MLB had done to Frank McCourt in LA, but the understanding was that the Wilpons would mostly stay out of Sandy's way and let him do what he had to do. And that worked! Alderson ended up building the teams that won the pennant in 2015 and still won the Wild Card in 2016 despite a ton of injuries! His regime drafted a lot of the good bats the Mets have today! But what will always stick out to me as a sign that the Wilpons never really went away? The Mets not trading Jose Reyes in 2011 when it was obvious he was going to free agency, because Fred and Jeff thought Reyes chasing the batting title in a lost season would get more people to come out to the games. Just like them wanting an injured Pedro Martinez to stay on the mound so he could face Dontrelle Willis back around 2006. Super near-sighted decision making, constantly pennywise but pound-foolish, half-measures everywhere, and an organization that could give you a couple good seasons now and then before sinking back to mediocrity or worse for 4-5 years at a stretch. Good God, I can't believe I spent basically my entire fan life with those guys running the show. Wish I could sue for emotional damages.

I have no earthly idea how the Giants are one of three teams in the NL with 60 wins. On paper it doesn’t add up? Like even a little. lol

Anthony Rizzo is on the IL with concussion symptoms. And apparently this can be traced back to his collision with Tatis.
He initially passed MLB's concussion protocols immediately after the collision, but I have to wonder if he kept his symptoms on the DL because of Judge's injury. Which is a bad look out of him. And bad look out of the Yankees for not paying closer attention to possible issues.

Here is a rare site the Yankees lead the Astros in a game, you didn't see that last year at all in the regular season and until game 4 of the ALCS.

I think every team that basically told Correa to eat a dick this off-season missed a huge bullet so far.

So apparently German came into the clubhouse drunk on Tuesday, yelling at his teammates and Boone while also flipping a couch
Keep in mind Monday he was supposed to start but was "injured" and then put in the game which Boone said he didn't have enough time to warm up which sounds like bullshit
Once he gets his treatment he needs to be cut

He does not deserved to be remembered in one of the greatest clubs in baseball.

If you're not going to move Sevy to the BP, you might have to DFA him

Well a lot of factors of why the Yankees punted this game away, some of their high leverage relievers pitched the last two games, so probably not available, and thanks to German we are stuck with Sevi every 5 games. We have Cotes on a pitch count, we are going to need some relief arms tomorrow.
If the Yankees don't want to embarass Sevy, just make up an injury and put him on the IL and give one of the kids a shot or bullpen every 5th day which you have to do anyway when Sevy pitches. This has to be the last time Sevy starts. To Sevy credit he at least knows he sucks, listen to him.

Any other mets fans get an email from Steve Cohen today, pretty much apologizing and explaining the plan from here on out?

Phillies lost to the f***ing Royals
I feel like every few games I'm seeing them play the worst baseball they've ever played, and holy shit is Dombrowski the MVP for NOT paying Nola, he's been a bum this season.

Did the email actually outline a plan or is it more in the vein of "trust us we know what we're doing" ? It was pretty much what's been said publicly: I have a 20 game ticket plan, so I'm aware that part of this is "pleeeeeease keep your seats for next season", but I appreciate him saying that they knew they had to make a pivot, they fully committed to it, and they do intend to spend on free agency this offseason so they can still field a good team while developing the prospects. Basically, what I think most of Cohen and Eppler's stuff has been since the sell-off began is "we're still gonna spend, but sorry, don't get your hopes up for Ohtani."
