At first I was like where they gonna play him cause I swear every White Sox prospect that comes up is an outfielder (or plugged into the outfield) and then I remembered that Jose Abreu left and a single tear rolled down my cheek dramatically!
I like Benintendi as a player - but I leave the analysis of the value here to smarter people because I can not make sense of the ever expanding size of MLB contracts anymore and what is a good value!
It's strange, I get all my MLB news from this thread lolololol.

$15M a season for him isn't bad. He plays great defense in left and is a contact hitter. He's basically similar to DJ Lemahieu who also signed a 6/$90M deal but Beni is a few years younger than DJ

Yea, White Sox are still young but so are Guardians so it makes sense to add an established bat after lose Abreu. At least on White Sox side, they have some bats signed

They need him to balance some of their poor contact hitters like Grandal, Moncada, and depending on which Eloy shows up. It's a good fit between his contact ability, his glove, and being a left-handed bat. The contract is right at market value; getting neither a steal nor an overpay. It won't make up for losing Abreu in itself, but it's a nice add.

I like the Swanson signing. He’s the least exciting among the big 4 FA shortstops. But I share the Cubs reticence regarding those extra long contracts. So I’m good with getting a quality player at a reasonable deal. They still have some work to do. Hopefully, they’ll be able to do enough to be competitive in a week division. Lots of money coming off the books next year, too. It’s time for the Cubs to be open for business,

7/$177 with a no trade clause
Essentially $25M a year that will carry him until 35. Not a bad deal all things considered

Yeah. I'm not as high on Swanson compared to the others but thats not a bad deal in this market.

Yeah. I'm not as high on Swanson compared to the others but thats not a bad deal in this market. Correa, Turner and Bogaerts all signed 10 year plus deals and Bog is the only one who didn't get $300M (he got $280M) so with the way the market was, the Cubs def Swanson at a good price and he's not on the roster until he is 40 years old

Yeah, not a bad deal for Swanson, still not who I wanted though. But whatever Jed, I will let you work. Just win more baseball games!
One rumor that to me is just that, is the Cubs trading to Javy, and moving him to 3rd, a ball will never leave the infield again with Javy at 3rd, Swanson as SS, Nico at 2nd and Mervis at 1st. But I also do not want the Javy "the second the ball leaves the pitchers hand im swinging hard" batting style to kill a rally.

Can't say the Cubs are being cheap when they have signed Strowman, Suzuki, Bellinger, Tallion and Swanson over the last two seasons

Brantley back to the Stros
Yankees lost out on 2 LFs so I most likely see a trade

It’s been a week or so and I’m still a big giant “ 🤷♂️ “ on Correa being a Giant.
Is it exciting? Sure. Is it enough to make a difference against LA and SD? Nope. I guess maybe if they’re willing to go wild with the money in future off seasons as well maybe he can be part of the pitch to actually get others to sign (Sup, Ohtani!) in coming years.
I’m also still crying over the spilt milk of deciding 320 was the absolute max for Bryce Harper a couple offseasons ago, then do this for a guy who isn’t that level. Like if you’re going to go 320, just push it to 340 and get the generational talent.

Justin Turner to Red Sox 2/$22M with an opt out On one hand, my reaction is, "Hey, the Red Sox are still capable of signing free agents!" But on the other, much larger hand, my reaction is "Yikes, the best the Red Sox can do at this point is $11 million for a 38-year-old DH?"

The rest is incentives
