Hard to be optimistic for the Cards after watching them for bodied in the last week. I'm sure they'll look better as the season goes on but between cold hitting right now and pitching sucking ass, not liking our chances. I love our lineup. Walker is gonna be amazing, Donovan is looking good, JoMo looked real sharp the other day. We need to move on from O'Neill and Flaherty though. Nootbaar will be back soon enough, and Edman will get on track. We just need a couple useful starters, but we have tons of organizational depth to get some deals done. I'd love to see Yepez get some type of trade, as I think he'll do great elsewhere like Voit but we just don't have a spot for him.

O'Neil Cruz fractured his ankle. Guessing that ends his season. Awful. It's now being reported as a 10-12 week injury, which puts him out of action until probably the All-Star break. Not as bad as it could have been, but still a devastating blow for both the Pirates, and baseball as a whole, as Oneil Cruz was quickly rising through the rankings as one of the sports' most entertaining players. Very impressed from what I've seen from the Rays so far. Hopefully they keep it up. Not to rain on their parade, but they've played (and beaten) the Tigers, Nationals, and Athletics, three teams who finished a combined 181-305 (a combined .372 winning percentage). If they're still unbeaten after playing the Red Sox and Blue Jays this week, then it'll be worth more than a footnote.

I think the Rays will definitely be a playoff team by the end of the season, maybe even the division winner, but yeah they have beaten the worst teams in the league so far. Still, winning 9 games in a row even against bad teams is pretty impressive.

I saw on ESPN that they're saying 3 months on Cruz, not sure I buy that. He's a 6'7 shortstop with power. Something tells me a fractured ankle on him is gonna take a while to come back from. I'll be shocked if he plays a game at any level in July.

I'm gonna triple down. I'll change my name, avatar, and signature if TB doesn't win it all. That's how certain I am that they are.
TB is what NY used to be, a city of winners.
ETA; I'm book marking this.

I'll be shocked if he plays a game at any level in July. He's probably lucky he "just" broke the fibula as opposed to the other bones in the ankle. That and it sounds like the Achilles tendon and various ligaments are intact.
The surgery was almost certainly to set the bone and ensure it heals properly. It probably takes 6-8 weeks to outright heal the bone, and then a shitload of physical therapy. Three months sounds optimistic, but I'm assuming there was no other damage in his leg BUT the fractured fibula. Four months isn't outside the realm of possibility. The lack of damage to connective tissues is the difference between being out for a few months and the entire season (and then some).

Phillies just scored 9 runs off Alcantara. They are going to be the inconsistent team that will be dangerous โif they get inโ. Basically what they were last season.

ย Yeah, apparently they backed off the 10-12 weeks timeline and already said he's out 4 months. That I think he could do.

Nico Hoerner with the walk off single to beat Seattle in extras!! A really good ballgame tonight by the Cubs! We are lacking a big time power bat, but we have a solid team of contact/keep the line moving type of guys and so far I am mostly enjoying this season! Wake up tomorrow and find a way to win a ballgame!

Cardinals are just embarrassing at the moment considering the amount of talent on that team. About the only thing we have going for us is Walker chasing a record over 100 years old in a hit streak to start a career. At least I can live vicariously through the Rays ๐

Then again, I can't talk, the Padres are starting off really inconsistently given the talent we have, especially Manny. I hope getting that bag didn't make him lazy.

I will not stand idly by while that video besmirches the good name of Trot Nixon, who hit .277/.367/.497/.864 with a 162-game average of 25 HR and 33 doubles over the first five years of his career, before injuries started to mount up.

Nixon was a solid major leaguer. Not the most talented guy on the field, but gave you *everything* he had every single night
