Well all of a sudden the magic is back at Citi Field. The Yankees are winning again, but they are just winning games. The Mets last 2 of 3 nights have been doing it with magic. It’s a very fun spectacle but I’d much rather “just win” then rely on magic. But that was great to see live |

My refusal to keep following a Mets game the last couple nights has undoubtedly been what's caused them to have those insane comebacks.

German did get suspended for 10 games, which is the automatic punishment for being ejected for using it. It's against the rules, but not on the same level as the systematic cheating by the Astros and, to a lesser extent, the Red Sox.
The rule in general is really stupid because all the suspensions related to "sticky stuff" have been because of rosin, which IS legal. But it's entirely umpire's discretion on just how much rosin is "too much." And also discretion on giving a warning to wash it off (which happened to Schmidt, Scherzer, and German; German and Scherzer both got ejected after being caught) or jumping right to ejections. Rosin on the hand also just gets stickier over time because of sweat.
Really, they wouldn't even need rosin if MLB adopted the tackier ball they use in the Japanese pros. The overwhelming majority of pitchers use rosin to get a better grip on the ball so they can throw it without accidentally plunking someone in the head. That thing's slippery as shit. But Manfred is a moron.
