I was under the impression from most reports that they didn’t bill it as a match ahead of time this year because Austin didn’t want to commit to it and just agreed to a brawl at first with him changing his mind later on. “ According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there had been plans to promote the match in advance, but Austin was worried about it not living up to his expectations. The plan became an “elongated brawl”, but Austin changed his mind and agreed to the match at some point during his training.” Did it come out that it was a day of decision based on how he woke up that day? I don’t remember reading that. Nothing like that has come out, but considering that the match wasn't announced beforehand and with how many injuries hes had, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if the match happening was touch and go. Oh alright, you were making it sound definitive that it was like that and that they couldn’t promote any future matches with him because of it. I’d always thought it was just Austin waffling about whether he should actually come out of retirement and so that’s why they left it open ended. Now that he actually did have the match and it went off without a hitch, I wouldn’t be surprised if the right offer came along that he would allow them to promote a match. Austin vs. Cena would be amazing.

Like for real. I don’t get the hmm’ing and Hah’ing over a potential Cena vs Austin match.
Like, who cares? Oh it’s two guys who aren’t main roster guys, ok? So? Oh but the match probably wouldn’t be that great. And? This shows that wwe is relying on old names, they’ve sold like 50k tickets for both nights already with no matches announced. It doesn’t matter.
It would be a self contained special attraction match between two of the biggest stars in wrestling history on a two night Wrestlemania. I promise it won’t take away from the show

John Cena And Cm Punk are the two biggest ones. I also think Stone Cold vs Rollins and Stone Cold vs AJ Styles could be fun if just for the match quality and those two can easily get the best matches out of Stone Cold at this point. I want Lesnar vs Stone Cold but for the sake of stone Colds health, they should avoid that match. I am a huge fan of Roman since his heel turn but I have no desire to see Austin get fed to him just to cap off another accomplishment in Romans book though I feel it could happen down the line. In general I am curious to see how many matches Stone Cold possibly does for I don't see him just doing two matches and leaving it at that. Like I think (and hoping) he also does WrestleMania 40 or maybe Summerslam before hand.

Brock is the one I would most like as a match but with Austin’s body it would terrify me, so the safe answer is Cena

Brock would have to turn heel but...
Brock Vs Austin. Street fight. Backstory on Austin walking out and "ducking" Brock in 2002.
Every time Brock tries for a German Suplex Austin kicks him in the nuts. Match is a general brawl around the arena with weapon shots mainly.
Maybe Brock could win with a submission with a bloody Austin refusing to tap like he did in 1997 as a way to go out. I dunno just riffing here.
