Seeing Bomberman and Zelda II in the post above reminds me how my mind was blown a couple of weeks ago when I realized how many famous NES games originated from the Famicom Disk System in Japan (also including The Legend Of Zelda, Metroid, Kid Icarus, Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2 and Doki Doki Panic).

I'm kind of amazed by the Bomberman/Lode Runner links, could you imagine a publisher allowing a licensee to make a whole new franchise built around a character from a port they did the way Broderbund let Hudsonsoft? Simpler, mildly less litigious times.
